It's times like this that Blair Parker will always remember. The crackling of a wild bonfire, her friends surrounding it. Counting the stars high up in the dark night sky. Quinn laughing at Brett as he tells some crazy story, acting it out. Her brother Josh tackling Mason playfully to the ground, making a loud ruckus. Old tunes blasting on the radio from Masons truck. Stacey attempting to roast marshmallows but simply setting them on fire. Everyone so wild young and free. Simply enjoying the last night of summer vacation. Not a care in the world. Disappointed that they will all be going back to school but excited its their final year. All looking forward to being seniors. Just a bunch of stupid teenagers.
Blair can't stop smiling as she lies in bed later that night, her hair still smelling of smoke. Excited for the new year. And so glad she has so many friends to share it with. Soon she falls into a deep sleep, dreaming of the new school year.
"Wake up Blair!" The door to her bedroom soon bursts open to her brother Josh. He launches himself on her bed, yelling loudly. "Wakey wakey."
Blair shoves him off her bed laughing as he falls to the ground with a yelp. "Leave please." Josh just chuckles to himself as he leaves her room as she sighs in frustration. Blair was pretty sure Josh thought annoying her was his full-time job.
Scrubbing her face she reaches for her phone from the nightstand. It seemed she was giving her best friend Quinn a ride to school. Which meant she really need to hurry up or they would be very late. Jumping from her bed Blair chooses a pair of wash denim shorts and a peach sleeveless top. Pulling her ash blonde hair up into a high ponytail she attempts to quickly brush her teeth whilst pulling on her white converse. Which didn't really work. Deciding on a pretty hair scarf she ties it around her pony tail, washing her face. Swiping on some mascara she looks at her reflection once more before grabbing her schoolbag at the end of her bed.
Quickly she hurries down the stairs and through the kitchen. Her dad is already at work, never really at home anymore. Blair would do anything to have her father home more often. She grabs an apple from the kitchen bench, calling out to her brother. "I'm leaving now, giving Quinn a ride to school."
Hurrying out the front door Blair jumps in her little car and heads for her friend's house. The ride isn't long but it gave her time to think about the new school year. She couldn't be more excited for her senior year. And she finally felt ready to decide her future. Hopefully, by the end of the year, she would be ready to make all the right decisions. But for now, she would simply try to enjoy each minute with her friends.
Honking her horn Blair watches as Quinn races out the door and toward the car. Quinn had uncontrollable brown curls which she often tried to tame with braids, but they still managed to escape. She would be ever grateful for her friendship with Quinn. Through anything, Blair could count on her.
"Hey hey girl," Quinn places her bag on the floor turning to Blair, giving her a big hug. "You excited? We are finally seniors?"
"Right!" Blair begins the short drive to school, smiling happily. "Can't believe it really."
"I heard Brett is having a back to school party this Friday."
Blair laughs, not surprised by this. "Brett can't even wait one week for a party. Pretty sure he will start inventing reasons for why he can have them."
"That he probably already does."
"You wanna go?" Blair knew Quinn enjoyed the parties. She, however, didn't always like how crowded they were. Blair would rather it be just their friend group not ever Tom, Dick and Harry.
"Of course, your boyfriend is probably already going."
"Probably, pretty sure Nathan doesn't miss one."
The school car park is crowded with cars pulling in, students greeting their friends. Finding a free park the pair head toward the front entrance. They greet other students as they make their way toward their lockers needing to prepare for their first class.
Blair jumps slightly when firm arms come to circle her middle. "Hey, babe." A smooth masculine voice whispers into her air, making her smile happily. Spinning smoothly she faces her boyfriend Nathan.
"Hey." He smirks pulling her close, their foreheads pressed together. Slowly he kisses her, enjoying simply being together, close. The kiss deepens Blair lean in closer, her hands pulling at his dirty blonde hair.
"Ahem..." They break apart to see Quinn making sick faces. "Do you really have to eat each other's faces out while I am here?"
They both laugh, walking beside each other for their first class. Blair simply enjoys her hand in Nathans. Watching the others students milling around whilst Quinn talks loudly about something with Nathan. She had only begun dating Nathan just before the start of summer break. For ages he had been trying to woo her, to convince her to give him a shot. And in the end, Blair had given in. The summer had been a whirlwind of romantic dates and lots of laughter. And she could definitely say that she was falling for him. Head of heels in fact. He made her so happy. Plus Nathan had managed to be approved by her brother Josh. Which was a massive accomplishment in her eyes.
"Blair bear wait up!" A loud voice echoes in the corridor making her turn. She watches as her friend Brett comes to give her a big bear hug, laughing loudly. Brett was the crazy one out her friends, always making everyone laugh.
"You can put me down now Brett." Brett still holding her tightly, Blair's feet not touching the ground. "I can barely breathe."
He laughs loudly, letting her go turning to greet the others. "How were your holidays?"
"You know I did just see you yesterday?"
"Yeah well, something could have happened since then."
"What did you do last night?" Nathan interrupts his eyebrows furrowed confusion.
"Josh just had some friends round, that's all." Blair wasn't sure why he needed to know. She could do what she liked without reporting everything to him.
"Why didn't you invite me?"
"Cause it wasn't my thing, it was Josh's." Blair sighed in frustration. "Plus didn't you have some family dinner event with your father's company?"
"So..."
"Can you just leave it please!" Blair gives him a quick hug before heading toward her classroom with Quinn. "I'll see you at lunch."
"Lover's spat!" Brett calls out loudly trailing after Nathan. Blair simply shakes her head in annoyance.
Quinn sits beside her. "You right?"
"Yeah, doesn't really matter!" Blair pulls out her things, getting ready for class. She didn't really feel like talking, sometimes they couldn't agree about things but that happened with all couples, right?
"Sure, so did you hear the news?" Quinn knew when to leave things be, for that Blair was glad.
"What news?" If Blair needed to know the latest gossip Quinn was the one to go to.
"Mason broke up with Stacey!"
"Finally!" Blair didn't see why Mason would be interested in such a snobby girl. But Mason didn't ever stay with anyone that long so she wasn't overly concerned. He was known for his player ways. "Although we both knew it wouldn't be long."
"True true, probably his third girl just his summer."
"Sounds about the same as my brother." Blair pulled a face at the thought of her brothers whoring ways. She couldn't understand the pair of them. Quinn was about to reply when their teacher walked into the room, the class going quietly. The class begins, thoughts of Mason and Josh long forgotten.
