Walking into your home town after a rough night and getting accused of being a vampire is never a good thing. Yet that's exactly what happened to me just as I passed through the gates.
I had just wanted to walk home and get some sleep. That's all. But never-less, as soon I had taken two steps into the town, BAM! Some guy just pounced on me out of no where, hand-cuffed me, and tied my mouth shut. Heart pounding against my chest, my first thought was that I was getting kidnapped, but then he called a few other guys over, some who I recognized as working for the town's local police team. He yelled something I couldn't understand in my struggle to escape and they pinned me down.
I managed to loosen the tape around my mouth and let out a muffled scream. In there attempt to tape m mouth closed again (for that seemed to be their priority) they loosened their grip and I was able to escape. However, I was barely one block away by the time police men surrounded me, guns raised and hands shaking like mad. Strange, I thought, they seemed to be just as scared as I was. Trying to act a lot less fearful than I was, I said, "Hey, whatever it is you think I did, it probably wasn't me. Now why don't we all just chat about this over a cup of joe-"
"Zip it! We know what you are!" said the guy who had jumped on me earlier, who looked like he was the one in charge here. I could feel the sweat dripping from my forehead. No....they couldn't possibly know....I thought to myself, but the leader interrupted my thoughts.

"That's right! White hair, pale skin, red lips and eyes to match! You are the vampire that plagued our village last night!"
I sighed and calmed down a bit. So this was a misunderstanding.....they had no idea what I was. But I was still confused.
"Vampire? Boys, boys, I'm no vampire you idiots!" I yelled at them. They didn't lower there guns.
"Prove it!" The one to my left shouted at me. "If your not a vampire then tell us where you were last night, and why your coming into the village so early this morning!" Sweat trickled down my face.
"I-" I started to stammer, but a newcomer interrupted me.
"There won't be any need for that." He said. I recognized that voice, and sure enough walking down the street was my best friend, and son of the village chief, Salem.
"But sir-" stammered the leader, but Salem shushed him with an admonitory wave of his hand.
"I said there was no need. Now do me a favor and stop jumping random passerby just because they look like, the things called vampires from children's tales. As far as we are concerned, we don't actually know what they look like in real life, but I'll bet you my position as leader the vampire isn't going to show up in broad daylight, nor allow themselves to get caught by mere mortals like you. Now, if you excuse me, I'll escort my fiancé and fellow detective to her house to brief her on last night's crime." He said, emphasizing the word 'fiancé'.

At first I was relieved to see him, but I came him a questioning look as grabbed me around the shoulder and led me down the street as the men looked back at us, apparently equally puzzled on what they were to do now. Catching my eye, he gave me a small wink that said "Just go with it, it's part of the plan". I gave a curt nod and once were out of sight, he spoke.
"So, this is assuming your not the vampire from last night?' Cause if you were then we'd have a small problem here, you know, just a small one. I mean, it is a bit suspicious that you disappeared the night of the attack."
"No, I'm not the so called 'vampire' from last night," I replied, rolling my eyes at him,"And since when have I been your fiancé?"
"Of course your not, and that was just to approve your status with me."
"Status?"
"Well, ever since the ah-little incident happened, we've had higher security around
the place. Being my girlfriend makes you more important than just being my 'friend'. Also, you know, I got to make it clear to everyone that's I'm taken, as I happen the be very popular." He said, grinning at me. This was the first I really got to look at him since yesterday. Lightly tanned with gorgeous blue eyes and black hair, it was easy to see why so many people would like him as boyfriend, although I've never thought of him, or anyone in general in a romantic way.

But maybe someday, someday we can be together, after he knows what I really am. But today was not that day. We have work to do, and this vampire case needed to be solved quickly.
"Hmm...well, what about this case? What are the details?" I asked him as we continued our walk down the street. Most of the shops were just opening but I could smell food from the breakfast place a few blocks away, and it made my stomach growl.
"Actually, Salem, let's look it over breakfast I'm starving, let's go to Gerald's." I said to him, indicating the restaurant."
"Ah sure, but your paying. That place is expensive and I'm broke." He said,"I'm not really hungry..."
"Broke? I'm not sure I believe that, you being the chief's son, but I won't make you pay for me," I said with a small laugh,"Now doe, on, let's hurry and get there so we can order something fresh."
