Leaving on a Jet Plane: an Easybeats fanfic

Introduction to story

Just a bit of a rundown, an introduction if you will about this.

First of all, as of July 20, 2018 as I post this, is my birthday. So in a twist of things, a birthday gift from the birthday girl to all the Easybeats fans & (rare) fic writers who, believe it or not, inspires me & I hope inspires others as well. No matter how little or big of an idea. I had no plans of posting anything on my birthday. I was just lucky that I had enough written to be satisfied on posting. I also needed to post the story as soon as I could cause I keep going back & changing little things here & there to where I have to yell at myself to stop picking at it. It's like a itchy scab. *LOL*

I've written a few stories during my Japanese anime years for certain very obscure fandoms and I had a lot of fun with it regardless if anyone read it, commented on it, or even knew what the hell they were reading. But at least there was something out there for those obscure fans as well (no matter what it is).

I had no intention of writing anything in regards to the Easybeats base but early this year I came across a long AC/DC story on tumblr and George was in the background a bit and I don't know, from there it stuck in my head on wanting to write about him. Funny when I think back on the small idea of plotting out my story and how it ended up to where it is now. I'm putting this out as a warning now, I have NO CLUE where this story is going. I felt that if I didn't post what I have written now, it may never see the light of day or even completion. Also, I was never a chapter writing person, it was always one shots cause hell, there's a few one shots that I never got around to finishing either & those were some pretty damn good ideas but I lost the steam. I've been on a HUGE writers block for 11yrs (started writing anime fics from '99-'07) now and I gotta say, it feels good to write again.

An odd moment for me when it came to writing this, I guess cause of knowing it was going to be in chapters, was how I started. I'm trying to base things for each year and I ended up writing the middle of the fic before I even started the beginning. *LOL* So here I was writing about my characters in early '66 and when I ended that part, I was like shit, I need to start writing their back story in order to explain how I got "here". I'm glad it hit me like that cause as I was trying to come up with the beginning, the rest of the story kinda started forming on its own.

Another bane to my existence is coming up for titles for stories. I drew a blank till I watched a clip of Mamma Cass & John Denver singing "Leaving on a Jet Plane" (which John did write and Peter, Paul, & Mary made it a hit song) and it was such a poignant piece that I get chills & the tugging at the heart strings listening to it. I thought it was a fitting title for all the traveling through the years to all the characters involved as well as the lyrics.

I think I covered the basics on this. I know I didn't need to explain myself either but coming out of a very long writer's block, it feels like an accomplishment for me & I'm not even near finished with this story.
