There was always something Gilbert Blythe enjoyed about summer evenings. How the breeze caressed his face while watching the sunsets in avonlea or how he could look out at the horizon and just forget about the world and his problems, all Gilbert wished to do was forget Anne's face and how teardrops painted her light rosy cheeks as she saw the man she loved kiss another woman and out of all people Josie pye. If only Anne knew what really went down and how Gilbert couldn't last a day without her, He was falling apart and it was really starting to show as well. From the bags under his eyes from restless nights thinking about her, not eating, getting up to at least take a shower, Gilbert Blythe was utterly and truly broken.

The Old Oak Tree was always Anne and Gilbert's favourite place to really just talk and grow together, it was also the place that Anne comforted Gilbert after his dad's passing, Gilbert was hoping praying that Anne would forgive him if she didn't Gilbert doesn't know what he'll do. Gilbert was Interrupted by his thoughts by the one and only Anne Shirley Cuthbert. It took all the willpower in Gilbert to not grab her and kiss her right there and then.

"You wanted to talk, so talk Blythe" Anne said with her arms crossed staring at him with glossy eyes

"What you saw that night isn't what you think it was" Gilbert stated

"Oh so you're saying I didn't see you kiss somebody else while you claimed you loved me" Anne spat anger laced onto every word

"Anne she kissed me I pushed her off as soon as she did please you have to believe me" Gilbert said

"Anne I can't stop thinking about you, you're all that runs through my head day and night, I wouldn't even think about being with somebody else because you're the only one for me because Anne... I am hopelessly in love with you"

As soon as that came out everything was silent Anne was in shock as her tears were threatening to fall down her cheeks, Gilbert continued

"I'm in love with your laugh" as each sentence fell out Of Gilbert's mouth he took a step closer to Anne.

"I'm in love with your smile"

"Your eyes and how they remind me of the ocean"

"I'm in love with your fiery red hair"

And as he took his final step their faces centimetres apart

"I am in love with you Anne Shirley Cuthbert"

Anne could feel his breath lingering on her lips and oh how she wanted those lips on hers, and the next thing she knew her lips smashed onto his, she kissed him hard with all the anger she's been holding inside just seemed to melt away on Gilbert's lips, His hands now meeting Anne's waist holding her close afraid she might disappear in thin air. When they broke off for air Anne snuggled into Gilbert's knitted sweater inhaling the smell of pine and oak. She held him close to her and looked into those warm hazel eyes that she adored and his smile oh god that smile makes her melt to her knees every time she'd get lost in them

"Oh god I missed you" Anne said as a simple tear rolled down her cheek absorbing into his sweater. Gilbert just held her tighter and kissed the top of her forehead as the swayed with the crisp evening breeze, finally they would get their happy ending
