An Unlikely Event

Getting in a routine

I get to mom's house at 5:45.  When she opens the door, she has this big smile on her face.
"Hi baby! I'm so glad that you could make it! I have a surprise for you!" Mom says while giving me a big hug and letting me inside.
"Thanks for having me, mom! We don't really get a chance to do this very often!" I tell her with a smile on my face. "Oh before I forget, I have to call Luke, I'll be right back mom." I tell her while going into the living room. I just tell him that I'm at mom's and I'll see him at home.
Mom and I just talk and catch up for what seems like hours but only a half hour has passed.
"Are you ready for your surprise, Ash?" Mom askswith a big smile on her face and her eyes keep darting to something over my shoulder.
"Yes, I'm ready!" I say unable to contain my excitement.
"Close your eyes, hon. I'll be right back." Mom says as I close my eyes and I hear her walk away and come back a little bit later.
"Ok, Ash! Open your eyes!" I hear mom say from beside me. I open my eyes to see Shawn in front of me with a goofy grin on his face.
"Shawn! Oh my god!" I yell practically throwing myself on to him to give him a hug, he just chuckles and catches me, thank god.
"Hey Ash! Look at you, you look better than you did at home." Shawn says while playing with my hair.
"Gee thanks, big brother. What a make a girl feel loved." My sarcasm comes through, whoops.
"Dinner's ready kiddos! Let's go!" Mom tells from the kitchen, and we all go sit at the table and enjoy mom's famous spaghetti and meatballs. We talk and crack jokes all through dinner.
"I hate to be a bummer, but I gotta head home. Luke's getting worried." I tell them as we are cleaning up from dinner.
"Ok, honey. Can you let me know when you get home please?" Mom asks while giving me a hug and a kiss on the head.
"Of course, mom! Bye shawn, can you stop by my apartment before you leave?" I ask Shawn while I give him a hug.
"I will, I'm here for another couple days then I gotta go to New York." Shawn tells me with a smile on his face.
"Thanks, Shawn! Bye mom, Bye Shawn! Love you!" I yell as I put my shoes on and head out the door.
"Bye, Love you!" I hear mom and Shawn yell just before the door closes.
I hop in my car and call Luke to tell him that I'm on my way home and I'll be home in hopefully less than an hour. I jam out to country while I drive home. 
I get home at about 8, and when I get up to the apartment, Luke is watching softball and playing on his phone.
"I'm home, superstar!" I yell and Luke jumps and nearly throws his phone.
"Are you trying to give me a heart attack? At this rate I'll have one before in 40." Luke says sassily while coming to give me a hug. I tell him about dinner and that Shawn would be by at some point before he went to New York.
"This has been bugging me since our shoot around with Gray. What were you two talking about that made Gray look like a school girl?" I ask Luke out of nowhere.
"We were talking about some girl that Gray likes, he didn't think that I could figure it out but I did." Luke says with a proud smile on his face but I can tell that there is more to it than that.
"Oh, ok. Well I'm gonna head to bed, I'll see you in the morning." I tell Luke while getting off the couch and heading to my room.
"Goodnight, Ash!" Luke yells from the living room.
I do my normal nighttime routine and hop in my bed,  and I'm out as soon as I land on my bed.
