Setting Sail

"I still cannot thank you enough for this boat, it must've cost a fortune." I said still gushing over my brand new amazing boat.

"It was really no big deal, I love you and I always want you to be happy, learn new things and go on adventures." I could tell that it really made her happy to see me happy.

"You know my friend Lucy right? Well her dad builds boats. So the three of us got together and started working on this boat."

She sighed a happy sigh.

"But since I was buying the boat, I still had to pay for the things I didn't work for." She smiled.

I didn't want to be rude but I really wanted to try the new boat out. It probably would be rude to just run into the boat and start sailing to my heart's content.

My thoughts were once again interrupted by Mandy.

"So, aren't you going to try it out?"

"Really?" I said. I couldn't believe she would just let me hop in and leave her there.

"Of course, it's your boat now." She said.

I was grinning from ear to ear. My very own boat! But that's when it hit me. I don't even know how to ride. Or sail. I don't even know what its called!

"I would love to ride it, but the thing is..."

"You don't know how to sail. Don't worry,"

Then she said in this strange but funny voice. "Never fear, Mandy is here to help with all of your sailing needs."

I giggled a little. She loved making people laugh. I liked that about her.

After we got into the boat, Amanda showed me everything about my very first sailboat. She showed me how to move, stop, and steer. She also showed me a special spot for life jackets and this little bright orange folded up boat. She told me it was in case of an emergency. Amanda showed me how to work it and all of the other safety things.

Next we looked at canned foods, jugs of water, and a survival kit. Then Amanda told me where the fishing rods, line, hooks, and bait were so we could go fishing.

So we hopped in the boat and set sail.
