6th period. Or as I like to call it, the worst hour of the day, but to be fair I never liked the teacher. His name is Mr. David, he's always been kinda a spaz, I never cared for his teaching style. He teaches Algebra 2, and to be honest I've always been on the more advanced side of things and being quite frank, people around my school are not my style, you have to be a social media high archy, Yawn. I never fit in with the people of this school, and I don't really plan on it. My class next class is Ap Ero with the one and only Mrs. Buckler. She's pretty much my favorite teacher, and I always come to her room during my lunch period. We have the coolest conversations about space, death, or causal career choices. Sometimes I think she worries about me since she never really sees me talk to anyone else. She kinda reminds me of a mother figure... mine passed away after giving birth to me, my poor father was depressed for years, or at least until I was 6. One night he sat me down in our dining room, I remember thinking I did something wrong and I was about to get a butt whooping. His eyes were watering and his face held something I've never seen before.
"Kells...I don't know how else to put this and, you know I've always been not the best with words..." He sniffled. "I know things have been hard, growing up without a mom, our house isn't the cleanest, I don't know how to deal with certain problems you will come by... and well I can't get you everything you want." I notice a tear stream down his face.
"Daddy don't cry. I'm happy here and I have lots of things!" He pulls me into a hug and wipes his eyes. "I'm going to fix this okay honey. I'm getting a new job and were not going to live like this anymore."
My dad never quits. I've always known him to be a fighter or a survivor. So He got a new job and here we are. No longer living in the trailer park! We have a 2 bedroom house, it's small but it gets us by we don't need much space since it's just the 2 of us living here.
Mrs. Buckler has always felt like a mother to me, and she and my dad have gotten pretty close these last few years. They knew each other in high school and now thanks to me are great friends. Not to toot my own horn but id like to believe I did it. But I definitely did.
I realize I wasn't paying attention to Mr. Davis anymore when he was glaring at me from across the room. But soon enough the bell rang and I was safe...or so I thought.
"Kelly stay behind..." His voice was abrupt and everyone looked back before piling out of the classroom. "Yes, Sir?" I said my voice shaky as I approached his desk.
"I've noticed you've been spacing out in class almost all week, is something wrong" He has almost surveillance camera eyes staring right back into mine. I feel as if I make the wrong move or say the wrong thing he will get involved.
"Oh no!" I smile to reassure him. "I already know this unit, so I'm usually pretty bored in class. But I did start this new book called "The Back Path" and I CAN NOT get the plot line out of my head!" I Keep eye contact so he won't see me lying through my teeth. Although, knowing the unit part was true.
"Okay just checking you are always my most active student and you've seemed really distant this week...but I believe you, just please stay active in my class?" He returns a toothy smile and hands me a pass so I'm not late to my next class.
"Yeah, thanks! See you tomorrow!" I turn and leave his class when I walk through the door a huge sigh of relief escapes from my lips. I rush down the hallway not paying attention to where I'm going, just focusing on getting to AP Ero. I break into an almost sprint and right before I turn the last corner, I hit something. Knocking me straight off my feet, all of my things fly out of my hands and my head hits the tile floor below me.
