"Patikim." Sabi naman niya. Namula bigla pisngi ko. He readied for his spoon and fork, pero bigla nag pale ung mukha niya. "Oo nga pala. Sorry..."
He looked away. I also can tell sobrang pula na ng mukha niya!
Oh shit. Ang cute niya pag namumula mukha niya.
I want him to stay like this forever so I have something my eyes can feast on.
"Bakit?" Tanong ko naman sa kanya.
"Nasanay lang. Lagi ko kasi ko ginagawa yun sa mga kaibigan ko." Pagpapaliwanag niya. "Pero di ako buraot, ha. Pati ako, namimigay."
"So, if I make this clear, nagsheshare kayo?" I asked.
"Yes." Sabi naman niya. "Pero if ayaw mo, I wouldn't do it with you."
"Bakit, hindi mo ba ako kaibigan?"
No. I should not. I should not have asked that.
There was a long silence between us. Parehas kami namula sa sinabi ko.
He turned his head away from me, yet he rolled his eyes.
Because of that, I could clearly see the red wrapping around his face.
He finally looked at me straight into my eyes and asked back.
"Are we...?"
I just chuckled and answered. "We are, silly."
"...kelan pa?" Nahihiya niyang tanong.
Ok. Honestly, medyo nainis ako dun. Doesn't he see me as a friend yet?
"Wag mo na tanungin."
"S-sorry."
"What for?"
"Dahil nainis ka sakin."
Dun na ako mas nagalit. Buti na lang na-hold back ko.
"Are you assuming my feeli- oh. I see..." I looked away dahil sa hiya. "S-sorry. Di kita dapat sinisigawan."
Then again, we were silent. We just ate our food. Sometimes, we would catch each other staring at each other. If one catches the other looking at him/her, the other looks away.
Sometimes, siya ang nakakahuli sa akin. Minsan, ako.
Lunch break today literally became an hour of embarrassment.
It's just too irresistible. I can't eat properly dahil gusto ko pa tumingin sa kanya.
Pag tingin pa lang sa kanya, busog na ko.
The fifth time I caught him looking at me, I finally spoke.
"Tingin ka ng tingin sa akin? Kumain ka na nga lang diyan!"
He just chuckled and smiled before answering back. "Sorry, naku-cutan lang sayo."
My whole face is a tomato now. Grabe. If nakakamtay lang ang pagkilig, nabankrupt na ako dahil sa sobrang daming funeral service para sakin.
Bakit ba ako kinikilig in the first place, anyway?! Why must he say that?!
-Zac's P.O.V.-
Why must I say that?!
I didn't mean it! I shouldn't've.
Pero nasabi ko na anyways.
Thanks to me, she looks like a tomato now.
She looks really mad it's hilarious.
But still, I shouldn't have made her mad just for the sake of my own befit. I'm guiltily enjoying it.
My attention shifted away from her when I noticed a group of girls walking towards our table.
Out of the blue, nilapitan kami ng isang grupo ng babae.
The three of them circled Dren's seat. On on the left, the other on the opposite, and the one on the back.
"Nako. Kala ko pa naman inosente ka." Sabi nung isa na nasa kanan ni Dren.
"Sabi mo di mo siya lalapitan, but here you are flirting with him." Sabi nung isa na nasa kaliwa niya.
"What? Hindi ko naman siya-" Magsasalita sana si Dren pero napatigil siya sa sinabi ng nasa likod niya.
"You lying bitch."
"Nagpapanggap ka pa na inosente ka but you're such a slut."
"A backstabbing, selfish whore."
Nonstop ung paginsulto nila sa kanya.
I know where this topic came from, and alam kong where this situation will end up.
I have to save her somehow.
I stood up and grabbed her hand. We walked away and iniwan na lang namin food namin since pwede naman namin balikan yun if wala na yung tatlo.
I also said something to her and made sure madinig nung tatlo ung sasabihin ko sa kanya.
"Babe, don't mind them. Ayoko na malungkot ka. Ayokong magmukha kang bruha sa date natin mamaya~"
That took me so much confidence to say out loud.
What's worse, I need to sound as passionate as possible. Then again, more confidence in the hole.
Overall, mamamatay ako sa sobrang hiya.
I brought her to somewhere quiet; the library.
It's the place that relaxes me. Tahimik, comfy ung mga upuan, and so much books to read.
You can even drink coffee or tea while reading. Basta wag lang matapunan ung mga furniture or ung books.
Pinaupo ko muna siya sa favorite spot ko sa library; a spot where chairs are installed with cupholders and are placed not too near nor too far from the table and aircon.
"I'll just get my lunch box and yours from the canteen. Dadalhin ko na lang dito yung sayo."
I was about to turn around pero hinawak niya ung right arm ko.
"Wait..."
I noticed some of her tears escape from her eye.
Doon na ko tuluyang naawa sa kanya.
"T-thanks for saving me."
"Sino ba kasi sila?" I asked. This time, nag-iba bigla boses ko. My tone sounded like an older brother wanting to protect her little sister.
As an actual older brother, I must protect her as well.
"B-basta..."
"If it pains you talking about them, di na ko magtatanong ulit."
I grabbed a handkerchief and handed it to her. I finally turned back para makuha ko na ung lunch boxes namin from the canteen.
I don't know why, but it also pains me.
