"It's too early for this!" Chelsea, Anya's best friend, exclaimed for the millionth time. Chelsea and Anya had known each other since they were little, when chelsea moved into the old house next door to Anya's, but it wasn't until recently that they discovered they were going to the same high school. They were both sophomores, so Chelsea had already gone to this school for freshman year, but this was Anya's first year here, since her old school burned down. Already, it was obvious this school did things differently. Not only was it full of long, confusing corridors and winding, old-fashioned staircases, but there were many rooms and entire wings that were completely off limits to not just students, but staff, as well. Anya had already been looking into the windows of some of the off limits rooms, and despite being dark, she could see that many of them were pointless, or even completely empty. Some of them weren't even finished, with blank cement walls and floors that were covered in moss or mold, like they had been left untouched for decades, although didn't appear to serve any danger if they were to be used after some cleaning. As Chelsea, Anya, and Chelsea's boyfriend, Dakota, sat by the old fountain, which was supposed to be off limits, the once still water began to ripple and the ground began to shake. The water grew more and more agitated until the ripples became waves that splashed out of the fountain walls, directed right at chelsea. The shaking stopped as quickly as it had begun, though, and the waves once again calmed. The water was still once more, only now the moss that sat on top of the water was broken up from the force of the waves and the water was cloudy, as the dirt that sat on the bottom of the fountain was kicked up by the movement of the water.  Just as Dakota was about to comment on how strange what had just occurred was, the bell rang. One by one, the group of students quietly filed into the building, still in shock over the strange phenomenon that happened by the fountain. They each split off in different directions, headed to their first period classes. After a few minutes of wandering around the odd hallways, Anya acknowledged that she was lost and stopped to ask directions from the only teacher she recognized. Mr. Sinclair had spoken to Anya this morning, inquiring as to why he didn't recognize her from last year if she was a sophmore. He was tall and thin with dark hair that was beginning to grey at the top and wore a plaid button up shirt with black pants. He seemed kind with a good sense of humor when he spoke to her the first time, but now he was being rude and very serious, insulting Anya for getting so easily lost. Feeling more than a little offended, Anya walked away, deciding she would rather find her way to class on her own than allow herself to be insulted that way.  She continued to walk down staircases and strange hallways, even the ones that were off limits, thinking maybe she could find a shortcut, but after nearly a half hour had gone by, she still had no idea where she was, or even how to get back to where she had come from.
