Chapter 1

**

Ten years earlier

I was playing with my pirate ship oblivious to the fact that my mum was calling me until I heard her open the door to my room.

“Georgia!” mum said sternly “didn’t you hear me call you?” she asked.

“No mum,” I replied sheepishly

“You would say that she quipped.

“I was calling you to come and help me with making the dinner”

“But, mu-um I hate cooking” I whined.

“Really?” she replied “what food are you going to serve your husband huh? Air?”

“No, but-” I started.

“Georgia, it’s always you who’s difficult, Noel never causes me this much stress,” she complained.

“I bet he does,” I muttered.

“What was that?” she asked.

“Nothing” I replied sullenly.

“I thought so” she replied “but Georgia seriously darling, what are you going to do when you’re older?”

I moved my fringe out of my eyes and looked up at my mum before answering.

“I’m going to be a pirate mum” I smiled

“Really? That’s nice sweety” she replied in the overly patronising tone that parents use

“I mean it mummy” I insisted. At this point my mum burst out laughing “honey, girls can’t be pirates” she said.

“Yes they can,” I replied “Noel and I are both going to be pirates and then we can get lots of treasure” I smiled toothily.

“OK then, have fun with that darling” mum replied before leaving the room.

As I got up and left the room I muttered to myself “I will be a pirate, I will”

Presently

“Alright ladies” I boomed whilst beckoning them to gather round. “I have discovered yet more treasure” I smiled “It’s just of the island of Macanois; word has it that the boys on the Skyliner have already set sail for this treasure-yes Paul?” I said

“Well cap’n I just wanted to ask, what treasure exactly is on this island of Macanois?” she asked.

“Good question Paul” I replied “well there is said to be over 1000 gold coins and some weaponry too”

With this, the faces of the whole crew lit up, they loved finding new treasure

“The only problem” I continued “is that we’ll have to abandon our current quest in order to catch up with the men who have about a week’s head start” with this a collective groan rang around the cabin. I could understand them though because we’d been searching for this treasure for some time and it was a greater amount than what we’d find on the island

“Well, what’ll it be?” I asked breaking up the chatter that had started

“Ehem” Paul began “On behalf of the crew cap’n I say we should go and look for the treasure on Macanois,” she continued “especially since we’ve found the treasure we were looking for here” she smiled

“Really?” I asked as my face lit up “bring it in,” I commanded.

Soon enough Bernard and Victor carried in the finest cocoa beans ever. It’s quite funny because when I first started off as a pirate I thought the only treasure I’d be looking for was gold, silver or jewels. Nowadays I’m really excited to find cocoa beans, these cocoa beans are no ordinary beans though, and they make the smoothest chocolate ever. We’ve also acquired the finest timber as well which means our ship is the best ever.

Whilst thinking this I put my hand into the brown sack that was stretched in front of me withdrew a few of the beans and sniffed.

“Ahh” I sighed as I smelt their heavenly aroma. “Well,” I said “I guess this calls for celebration,” I smiled “tonight we celebrate and tomorrow we set sail for the island of Macanois” with that a huge cheer rang out. I also smiled to myself as I left them and went to my cabin. The only problem was I haven’t informed the crew that we’ll be having a guest on our trip to Macanois.
