Beginne am Anfang

You chuckled at her words, shifting slightly in your seat. "I've not really thought about it," you started, noticing the woman's wide eyes, "but I'm not a fan of anything too extreme," you added, watching as she smiled and nodded.

"I'll try and pull some simple, elegant shapes for you. I doubt there is anything that would look bad on your figure though," she told you, basically bouncing as she hurried around the room, pulling dress after dress off of the racks.

Soon enough she was ushering you into one of the dressing rooms and helping you into the first dress; a tight mermaid fit that clung to your body and caused your eyes to widen as you stared at yourself in the mirror. Brienne laughed as you tried to walk out of the dressing room, barely able to move your legs. "I don't think this is quiet my style," you murmured softly, running your hand over your hips as you glanced at one of the many floor length mirrors. "It's beautiful but I can hardly breathe," you added and the girl nodded.

Dress after dress came after that, but each had a new issue; uncomfortable strapless dresses, dresses that were cut so low you could almost see your belly button, dresses that were just too delicate and intricate. When you came out in another dress, one with the back cut out, you wanted to burst into tears, and your face contorted as your eyes locked onto Brienne's. "Do you like it?" she asked softly, causing you to shake your head no.

"I hate it," you answered, sniffling to stop yourself from crying from the frustration, "I just want to go home."

"Let me try and choose something," she quickly spoke, getting to her feet and rubbing her hands over the tops of your arms. "Have a glass of prosecco and get out of this and just wait for a moment."

You did as you were told, waiting in the changing rooms in your underwear and on your own with the glass clutched tightly in your hand. When Lara returned with a smile on her lips you attempted to muster one of your own, but she saw through it immediately. "I promise it is nothing like the others," she told you softly, taking the glass from your hand and asking you to turn away as she got the dress ready. She gasped when the dress was finally on your body, but you kept your eyes firmly closed. "You know, I'm usually not a fan of these short dresses, but it looks lovely on you."

You took a final deep breath before opening your eyes and it was as though the air had been knocked back out of your lungs. "It's beautiful," you muttered softly, your eyes running over your reflection in the mirror. The dress was short, not your usual wedding dress, and it was simple, no beading or sparkles or lace; just a sweet off the shoulder dress which could have been worn for any occasion. You smiled, releasing a small chuckle. "It's perfect," you added, and Lara let out a squeal of delight.

"We have to show Brienne," she cried in excitement, taking your hand in hers and leading you out into the shop.

"Oh Y/N," Brienne muttered when she saw you, a smile coming to her lips when she saw how happy you now seemed. "It looks incredible," she added and you nodded in agreement.

"I love it," you started, "this is the dress I want to get married in," you continued, smoothing down your skirt slightly.

"Let me pay for it," Brienne finally broke the silence, and you looked at her in surprise.

"Don't be ridiculous, you can't pay for my wedding dress," you started but she quickly cut you off.

"It can be my gift to you," she started, "please, it meant so much for you to want me here today, let me do this."

You nodded softly, "If you're sure," you started, letting out a sound of surprise when she got to her feet and wrapped her arms around you.

"You and Pod are going to be so happy together," she muttered as she pulled away from you, and you felt the tears prickle at your eyes.

"Thank you," you told her, wiping the tears from your cheek, "Gods, I didn't think I would be crying at the dress fitting," you added with a small chuckle.

*Time Skip*

"I'm home," you called into the room, hearing Pod's footsteps as he made his way through the house, poking his head around the door frame.

"Dinner is almost ready," he told you softly, "how did it go?"

"I can collect the dress in a fortnight," you started, following him back to the kitchen and hoping up onto the work surface, "it was actually brienne that chose the dress, the girl is a miracle worker." He looked surprised as he looked at you over his shoulder. "And she insisted on paying for it too, she seemed quiet touched that I wanted her there."

"Your kidding," he started, moving to stand between your knees. You shook your head as he pressed his lips to yours. "Well, we don't half pick our friends well."

"I like to think that our friends pick us," you chuckled, kicking him lightly on the butt as he turned to face the cooker.
