Chapter One

Anthony's POV

The bell above the shop's door rang as the door flew open.  My eyebrows flew up as I watched a boy that looked at least a year older than me walk towards me.  He slammed an open, golden tanned hand on the counter with a twenty dollar bill in between his hand and the counter.  I sighed before I put my bookmark in between the pages I was on before leaning forward and resting my elbow on the counter and my cheek on my palm.

"A little too dramatic for my taste." I said with a cocked eyebrow, "Moving on.  How can I help you?"  Guilt seeped into the boy's emerald green eyes as he rubbed the nape of his neck with the hand that wasn't pinning down the bill on the counter.

"Sorry about that." he apologized sincerely, "I've had a bad day. How do you passive aggressively say 'fuck you' with flowers?" He asked.

I took a deep breath before leaning back in my chair.  Wonder what happened, I asked myself.  I thought for a moment before I got out of my seat to find a post-it-note and a pen.  I quickly scribbled the flower types and what they mean before looking up at the confused customer.

I gave him a small smile before motioning for him to follow me out to the plants in the garden outside.  I felt him watching me with confusion as he walked a few steps behind me.  Suddenly I stopped, causing the boy behind me to bump into me.

I almost went falling face first to the concrete ground if it wasn't for the boy.  His toned arms wrapped around my waist before I could fall.  He pulled me to his muscular chest.  Butterflies fluttered around my stomach anxiously when he touched me.

"Sorry about that." I said sheepishly as heat rose to my neck, ears, and face.  He chuckled from behind my ear before unwrapping his arms from around my waist.  His low and husky voice only caused my blush to deepen.  He walked a few steps ahead of me before he realized that I wasn't following him.

The boy stopped and turned around to face me then gave me a small smile.  His green eyes sparkled with amusement.  I snapped out of my daze and returned the smile before walking past him.  When we finally came to the first flower I had down on my post-it-note, I took out the mini lawn clippers that I keep in my pocket.  This didn't go by unnoticed by the athletic boy standing beside me.

"You have mini lawn clippers in your pocket?" the boy asked in amusement.

"Well, I do work in a flower shop to be fair." I pointed out with a small smirk.  From the corner of my eyes, I saw him roll his eyes with a smile on his face.

"That is fair.  What flowers are these?" he asked, turning his attention to the flowers I had just clipped.

"These are geraniums." I said, feeling more comfortable, "They mean stupidity.  The bouquet of flowers you'll get is going to be quite striking.  Is that okay with you?"

He nodded beside me, which caused his jet black, curly hair to bounce a little.  I started walking again with half a handful of the pink flowers in one hand and my list in the other.  As we walked, I noticed our height difference.

I stood at 5' 8" while he stood at around 6' 2".  I also noticed how he kept a lazy pace so he doesn't go ahead of me.  Damn you short legs, I cursed mentally.  I was suddenly aware of the fact that he was watching me.  I turned my head to my right and made eye contact with him.  His deep green eyes met my sky blue ones.  He looked like he wanted to ask me something so I cocked an eyebrow.  When he looked away, I followed suit.

"Do you go to school here?  You seem really familiar." he asked curiously.

"Actually I do.  I'm on the swim team so maybe that's why."  After getting a good look at his side profile from the corner of my eyes, he also seemed familiar.  Once again, I felt him watching me but I didn't meet his eyes since we were at the next flower on the list.

"So these are orange lilies." I explained, "They mean hatred."  Still watching me, he nodded and his curls bounced once again.

After walking around the extremely large garden while talking about random things and stopping to collect two more types of flowers, we started heading back to the front of the shop.
