The News vs. Youtube

     Remember when PewDiePie was called out by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) for being "anti-Semitic"? This got me thinking. Why has the public not been notified about Logan Paul joking about suicide, which is an even more serious topic? Or the currently hot topic of the disastrous Tanacon (which is what made me think of this subject)? News outlets must have been milking PewDiePie's mainstream status and amount of subscribers and followers. For exposure, of course. Money, money, money.
     PewDiePie made a joke and got in trouble. Logan Paul and Tana Mongeau did stupid things and have not yet been exposed to the non-YouTube public.
     Although Tanacon is not a serious topic in my opinion, and is a case of people getting offended over first world problems, it has had more severe consequences than PewDiePie's initial video (though the controversy eventually lead to the "Ad Crisis"). Why has the news been withheld from speaking of these topics considered serious? Sure they did that Good Morning America conversation with Logan Paul, but that was late. And many of the public still is uninformed.
     I'm not saying that every controversy on YouTube or something (like with the game Doki Doki Literature Club (DDLC)) should be exposed to the public, but serious topics that people can learn from should be heard. It could end up helping someone in the long run.
     Those who have no time for YouTube may not have time to hear about these things, but if the public knew then the news would spread. These busy people with stressful lives need to have a reality check, in the form of listening to a controversial subject from another world.

     To end on a more humorous note: Wall Street Journal's acronym (WSJ) can be rearranged to SJW (Social Justice Warrior, which is someone who tries to be just and ends up getting everyone offended in the process). Coincidence? I think not! Next up on Shane Dawson's Conspiracy Theories...
