SENIOR YEAR LAYTON HIGH'S GRADUATION BEACH BASH
Lou
"Damn, that's strong." I cough as I threw back another tequila shot. My friend, Kayla, laughed as she poured me a third.
"You need to loosen up. We are free! We're outta high school!" She screamed with excitement as she downed her gazllionth shot. "WHOOOOOOOHHHH!" I covered her mouth with my hand, trying to stop her from drawing attention towards us. She licked the inside of my hand and started to laugh when I screeched. Her humor fled from her face as she saw James Sawyer coming towards me with a clenched fist and a face of anger. He marched directly up to my face, pointing his finger at my chest.
"You bitch! You told Lacie that I slept with Michelle? God, out of all the things you did these passed few years, this...THIS is the worst." He shouted. I took a step back, completely shocked by his sudden rage.
James and I have a very troubling past, what with both of us pulling horrible pranks on each other. It was our thing. Ever since we were children all we did was prank each other. It was all careless and fun. We never did anything that could potentially ruin each others lives. At least that's was I thought before James told the entire football team I had syphillis. That rumor or "prank" as he called it, spread like a wildfire and it somehow got back to my mother. You'd think that she would let me explain, but she ignored my attempts to talk to her and drove me straight to the doctors. After a few tests and hundreds of dollars later, she came to find out that my "rumor" was just that... A rumor. No one at the school realized that though. In all honesty, I am still a virgin, but I don't think anyone knows that and lord, I hope they never find out.
"Yeah, well you can call this a waited comeback. Or Revenge." I smirk, snapping out of my trip down memory lane. He glares at me with hatred.
"Lacie won't even talk to me, Lou! What possible reason could you have had to do this to me? I mean what could I have done that was so bad, you decided to ruin my life?" He snarled. I looked at him with utter confusion.
"You're kidding right? You seriously have no clue why I did this?" I laughed, baffled by his stupidity. I waited for his response, but he only looked at me for an explaination. I sighed as I continued, "You told the entire football team, and basically the whole school, that I had syphillis. You ruined my relationship with my mom because of that. She thinks I sleep around, and you and I both know that isn't true." I took a sharp breath in as I let him recollect that very fond memory of mine.
As it slowly started to connect, a wide smile stretched across his face. He began laughing hysterically , holding his stomach in the process. As his laughter died, so did my dignity. I narrowed my eyes at him. "Now you can see why I felt the need to enlighten your girlfriend, or sorry... EX- girlfriend, about your extracurricular activities." He stepped towards me once more, now we are so close I can feel his breath on my nose. I held my breath as he began to speak.
"I would be proud because of how conniving you are, but right now, I want nothing to do with you." He turned and began walking away before he stopped. He turned back towards me with a smile. "Although," he continued, "before I leave you, I should make a little speech... CAN I GET EVERYONE'S ATTENTION!" He shouted at all my fellow peers on the beach. A worried feeling washed over me.
"Sawyer, what the hell do you think you're doing?!" I whisper-shouted in a panic. He smiled at me again with his devious eyes looking at me. Everyone began to crowd around him and me. Kayla took a step towards James, a murderous look in her eyes.
"James, don't.... Please." Kayla begged. I turn towards her with confusion. What was she not telling me?
"Sorry Kayls. I'm only doing what I feel is BEST for her." He smirked and I tried to supress a feeling to smack him. "Ladies, Gentlemen..... and Lou. I would like to make a toast to my good, GOOD friend Lou Johnson." He turned towards me, holding up a beer bottle. He continued, "Lou, I just want to say how proud I am of you. You've come along way since Pre-school. You've changed into a wonderful young lady..." He paused and grinned from ear to ear. "So, everyone raise your glasses to Lou, the wonderful, smart, and most caring VIRGIN in our school!" He laughed as he took a long swig of his drink. I feel my world stop as everyone in the crowd releases a loud gasp as they realize that I, Lou Johnson, Hoe to All, is a virgin. I feel tears burning up the corner of my eyes. I look up into his eyes and all I see is happiness. I suck in a breath and stick my chin up.
"How did you find out?" I growl. He waits and I watch as his gaze moves from me to Kayla, who just so happened to be in tears. I gasp and put my hand over my chest, where my heart is.
"Kayla? Y-You told him? What.... W-Why would you do that?" I say, finally letting a tear spill over my cheek. She didn't reply. She looked down at her feet and sobbed. I turn back towards James with betrayl in my eyes. I nodded and wiped a tear from my chin. "Thank you."
With that, I walked away and towards my car. I got in and drove myself to my foster mom's house.
Never again. I will never again trust anyone...
