The fireball was raging towards Jack. He felt the heat of the flames come closer every second. From the corner of his eye he saw something moving, something that was moving towards him. Whatever it was, it would be to late. The fireball was merely a few seconds away from scorching him to death. When suddenly the wall came forward, knocking the fireball away from Jack. The fireball hit the wall instead, and the wall turned black and started smoking. Jack was sweating, who had saved him, and more importantly, what was going on? Since when could people in dark clothing shoot fire from their hands? Suddenly he saw that his uncle was standing in front of him. 'Go away, you have nothing to seek here!' He said to the boy. 'This is not over yet, soon my master wil get to Jack, and he will join our forces!' The boy Ran away, his cloak waving behind him. 'Are you alright Jack?' His uncle asked. 'Yeah, I think so. What was that all about? Since when can people shoot fire or let walls come forward at exactly the right time?' 'I will explain everything later, not now, this place is not safe. come on, we can talk at home'. Jack followed his Uncle to their home. Once inside, his uncle sat down on the couch. 'Jack, I wanted to tell you this for a long time, but I had to wait. The average time a boy comes in touch with magic is about when they're eight teen. You see, magic doesn't develop inside a child until they're ready for it, it depends on the mental strength of the kid when that is. Some are later and others are earlier. Of course, if you're not born with magic, you will never develop it. That's why we have to keep it secret from the other humans, if they knew, they could stand up against us, banish us from the normal world. Human minds are jealous, most normal people wouldn't think of it as fair, they would try to gain power using magic, but it is dangerous, even more for people who aren't born with it. Sure they can practise it and master the art of it someday. But a person who isn't born with it is not allowed on any magic school. Learning what's dangerous and what isn't, would mean they would have to try it out. And that could be disastrous. Too many magicians have died using new and dangerous magic, but they at least gave us the knowledge about that magic and we won't make the same mistake again. Hundreds of years have passed and there still is magic we have yet to explore. If they had to do that all over again, it could mean the end of this world as we know it. But enough about that. You're probably shocked about what just happened.' His uncle stood up and walked towards the closet. He opened it and shove aside one of the photos. Behind it was a small box, which Jack had never noticed before. He opened it and took the book that was inside of it. 'This book contains all that is known about magic, but you can only see as far as you have learnt about it. It's a complex spell that makes this possible, and it prevents young children from using very advanced magic. I'll take you to a magic school tomorrow, they'll check how far your magic development is. If it's far enough, you might be able to go there and learn about it. for now, you can read as far as that book shows you. It will probably not tell you a lot. The book is person bound. When someone else picks it up, the information you discovered will disappear and only the knowledge they have already will show up.' His uncle took a deep breath. 'That boy who attacked you, was a fire mage. He has probably joined the dark mage, who's whereabouts are unknown, just as his identity. He is forming an army of magicians who serve him and him only. He makes his youngest servants recruit new people. He has stolen a list of kids who are yet to develop their magic. Using this he can send his servants to them and tell them about how unfair the magic world is from their perspective. They manipulate and form the minds of the kids and thus make them join him. I bet that that boy was about to do the same to you. The magic world is far from unfair. But they never accept the rules and they believe that the magic world will collapse in a never ending war. This won't happen, the magic world is in peace and there have been almost no wars. They are the only threat to the peace there is. Now, why don't you get some rest, it's been a long day'.

Jack went to bed, but he couldn't sleep. He couldn't believe that there was another world that he had never heard about. A world filled with magic and mystery. He thought about it for some time, then he stood up and walked to his desk. The magic book was lying on top of it. He opened it but all that was written on it was: "Yet to discover". He closed it and went downstairs. His uncle was already asleep. He went to the kitchen and took a glass of water, lost in thoughts. Suddenly he saw a shadow trough the window. A person was standing in front of his house, staring at him. The person's lips moved, as if he was saying something. Stunned with fear of another attack he stared at the person. The person said something again, but this time, Jack could hear what was said. 'Jack!' Then Jack recognized the person, it was Carl. It wasn't the first time Carl came to his house in the middle of the night, but he certainly didn't expect him. Jack opened the door and Carl came inside. 'I've been trying to call you all day man, what happened? I heard Ben got beaten up by some guy in a cloak and that guy then chased you' 'Yeah, he wanted to beat me, but my uncle saw it and helped me out' Jack lied. 'Well, if you ever see that cloaked guy again, search for me, I'll make sure he won't do it again!' replied Carl. 'But, I gotta go now, my mom's gonna be mad if she notices that I'm not in my room, cya' Jack opened the door again and Carl ran back to his house. He lives about 2 blocks away from Jack, they've been friends for years. Jack went back to bed, and as soon as he touched his pillow, he slept. The next day he was awakened by his uncle, saying that he is driving him to a magic school after normal school and that if he doesn't stand up in a few minutes, he'll be late for school. Jack got up and began eating his breakfast. He walked to school with Carl, same as any morning. At school not a lot happened. It seemed as if the day before had never happened. Math class was boring as always and physics wasn't any better. When the last hour was finished he walked to his locker again. Only this time Ben wasn't waiting for him. He picked up his cloak, glad that that boy from the day before had done at least something good. He walked outside and immediately saw that the boy was waiting for him again. He started walking towards Jack, but before he could do anything, Carl came running from the exit and started hitting the boy. 'Run Jack, I'll hold him off!'. Jack started running, still hearing his friend beat up the boy. When he was out of the gate, he saw that Carl had ran inside and that the boy was now looking for him. Jack looked around, searching for his uncles car. When he finally saw it, he heard running footsteps behind him. Knowing that it was the boy he started running towards the car of his uncle. Merely a few foot before the car he was grabbed by the boy. 'You're coming with me!' Jack tried to get away, struggling and grasping for the car, but the boy was strong and he dragged him along. Jack fell and saw that the boy was smiling. Still being dragged he started screaming for help, but there was nobody who could help him. The boy was dragging him towards a dark building that was always next to his school. No-one knew what it was for but Jack got the strange feeling that he was soon to find out. right before the door of the building the boy looked at him. 'You've caused more trouble than most, but you're well worth it' He said with an evil smile. Right when the boy started walking again he fell. knowing that this was his chance Jack stood up and ran towards his uncles car. Where his uncle had already opened the door. Jack got in and they drove away, leaving the boy in front of the school. 'Why didn't you come to save me?' 'You think a specially trained boy like that would fail his mission easily by just falling? He would be particulairy bad if he hadn't seen that stone stick out in the first place. That's how I could trick him.' His uncle replied. They drove to a large building wich was well known to be a factory for all kinds of electric stuff. 'Why are we going here? I thought we where going to the magic school' said Jack 'We are' His uncle replied. He parked the car and they stepped out. 'This building is a cover up for the magic school, would be a bit dumb to put up a big sign saying "Magic school", wouldn't it' 'Yeah, I guess you're right' They walked into the factory and when they got to the elevator his uncle touched the door in a weird order. 'When you're accepted you will too be able to open the lift for the magic school' The lift opened but instead of a lift, a hallway appeared. They walked trough until halfway an old man walked towards them. 'Hello, My name is Charles, I'm the principal here. You must be Jack, before we can go any further, I have to check if your magic abilities are already developing, otherwise you cannot join us' The man put a hand on Jack's head and closed his eyes. 'Hmm, you are developing for some time now, tell me, have you encountered any strange things? Something that never happened before and you were unable to explain at that time?' 'Yes, I got attacked by a boy trowing a massive fireball at me' 'Oh, well then you have met the more dark side of the magic world already, well you don't have to think about that now, you will be trained so one day, that massive fireball will look like something you wouldn't even raise your hand for to stop' He smiled and took them trough the hallway. He opened a door to reveal yet another hallway. They walked trough it and went trough another door. This time there was a room which looked alot like a cave. There were some people watching from the sides, they looked at him as if they were expecting alot from him. There were 2 kids watching and the other 4 were adults. 'This system is called the test, once you're ready we let small boulders fall from the top of the room, if they hit you, you faint. Don't worry, they won't harm you, they are magical so they can't cause any damage. We do this to find out what kind of mage you are. There are limitless kinds of mages, most of which we have yet to discover. for example there are fire mages, like the one who attacked you, earth mages, like your uncle, plasma mages, illusion mages, life mages, combination mages, those  are less power full than pure mages, but they can still use middle advanced magic of both of the kinds they know, but there are alot more. When a mage is still developing his magic, getting it out the first time is hard, only a natural reflex can make you use it. From there you can more easily use it. So, let's start shall we?' He pushed Jack to the middle of the room, walked towards the wall and said: 'Ok, Jack I want you to focus on the boulders, keep calm, everything is going to be alright' Well that was easy for him to say, Jack was terrified by the idea that they were going to let boulders fall on him and he had to just stop them without knowing how. 'Are you ready Jack?' Without waiting for an answer he gave a sing to another man and he spoke something weird. Immediately the boulders started falling towards Jack. He focused himself on them, and he started feeling something flowing inside him. But right when he wanted to do something he felt that that flow was stopped immediately and nothing happened.
