The noise from cars and others talking takes Mason to her quiet place. It relaxes her, of course the city always has. Ever since her mother dragged her and her brother out of the house that night when they were both six, she's fallen in love with the noise, the old quiet town made her uncomfortable. It was full of secrets, it has him.

She takes a snip of her drink, and just waits. Until she sees him. Jason, her twin brother. They made a lunch date, they wanted to talk. Lies, she thought. She wanted to talk, Jason wanted to ignore everything to do with emotions. He wanted to ignore everything to do with Mason.

He sits and the waitress comes to take his order.

"What can I get ya?"she asks. "Nothing."he says quickly, he wants to be done and go back to whatever he does now. Mason smiles kindly at the waitress. "He'll have some water please"she says in a soft voice. The girl nods and walks off.

"So, why did you drag me out of my house?"he asks. Clearly in a mood. Clearly mad at her. She took a deep breath. "You know why. You got the letter"she says. He just stares at her blankly. "Ok. And?"he asks.

"We have to talk about it"she says. She's not surprised he's acting like this. She knew this was gonna happen no matter what. "I don't have to talk about anything"he says. The waitress brings his drink. She also asks if she can get us anything else.

"I'm fine. But thank you"Mason says. Still staring at her brother.

"I'm fine to"He says. The lady walks off. Tends to other customers.

"Jason please. You can't keep doing this."she says. She's so close to begging. So close to just crying out to talk. To say something to her. But he just stares.

"Fine. I'll pay for your drink. I've already had four Pepsi's"she says. She loses eye contact with him. And silently begs for him to say something. But he doesn't. She hears him move his chair and walk off. She shakes her head and gets up to pay.

She unlocks her door and sets her items down. She reads her mail, closes her window, and grabs some PJS. Once she opens her bathroom door, she hears footsteps. She slowly turns around and walks to her closest.

She grabs her bat and makes her way to the kitchen and living room.

She quickly tries to remember if she locked her door. She makes it to the end of the hall only to have a needle stabbed into her neck and she falls to the ground and sees two black figures. Until she sees nothing.
