Chapter 2- The Brat Pack

I recognized him. I knew this boy. Well, to be honest, I knew who he was, but I've never actually met him. His name was Lukas Ridings, a member of the underground-alternative band "Acid Rain", the one-hit-wonder band that came out last year with their song "Should've, Could've (But I Didn't)", which was actually pretty good. However, they weren't able to produce another hit, so their label dropped them and the band eventually broke up due to stress. He moved back to Long Beach eight months ago and as it seems, began dating Kayla. (I assume this last part because as I was staring at him, Kayla had moved over to stand behind him and placed her hand in his.)

"Earth to Nicole. I freakin called you. " Well that's a snap back to reality.

"SO?"

"No need to be so rude Nicole. You're the one staying in MY house."

"First, it's Nikki. Second, it's your PARENTS house." The girl with the black curls coughed, as if she was trying to smuggle a laugh. Kayla realized this too, shooting a glance over her shoulder at the girl.

"Something to say, Leah?" Kayla said. The girl with black curls blushed for just a moment, embarrassed to be caught in the act of minimal betrayal, but she quickly regained focus.

"I was merely waiting for you to introduce us to you're cousin. Seemed appropriate." She paused, checking to see if what she had said was even acceptable, then flipped a curl over her shoulder, smiling.

Kayla turned back to me, still holding the hand of Lukas Ridings. She played with a ring on his thumb, turning it in around in circles. She was hesitant to speak, as if toying with the idea of introducing me to her friends. It seemed like we were all growing a bit impatient as she watched me, still turning the ring. Suddenly, the big blonde guy who was built like a freakin brick wall, Moose by any other name, stepped forward.

"I'm Kyle, this is Leah, that's Luke. Now you know our names at least. We know a bit more than that about you..." his eyes trailed off and I followed his gaze to my legs. I was about to say something when Leah smacked his shoulder.

"HEY! Watch your eyes, or I'll do more than just smack you. "

"Sorry babe, I was just trying to see if it was true..." What the hell did that mean?

"Excuse me, but, see if what was true?" I asked. It looked as if Kyle, aka "Moose" was about to speak when Kayla cut him off. She flicked her blonde (suprisingly natural) hair over her shoulder and stepped forward.

"The shack is about twenty feet to your left. Take whatever you need from there except do NOT touch the waterskis. The gang and I are going now. You are not to follow."
