Lia just couldn’t get the boy off her mind. His smile was on replay in her head; an endless torturous cycle of him. Why did he look so familiar? She tried to look online, but her phone data coverage didn’t cover worldwide. She put her phone in her bag and stripped of her bathing suit cover. It was her first actual day here; and she refused to let some guy she just met ruin it for her.

She spent half the rest of the day at the beach, and finally made her way back to her spot on the sand. Dropping down, she grabbed her tote bag and dug out her phone, turning it back on. Her eyes widened as she saw all of the missed calls; multiple from her mother, a few from her father… and two from Michael.

She couldn’t help the grin that lit up her face as she listened to his voicemail. It was short and simple; but it was cute and sweet. She giggled as he stuttered at the end, he was asking her to please call him back; as if she wouldn’t. Standing up while shouldering her bag, she brushed the sand from her legs and shook out her damp red hair.

The phone was pressed against her shoulder and ear as she struggled to get her hotel door open. She was glad she saved up money all these years. Sure, it was supposed to be for train tickets around schools in the US, but it certainly got her a good hotel suite. She set her bag down in front of the door as a very enthusiastic Michael answered.

“Hello?!” His voice sounded higher on the phone, but it just made her smile more. She continued to talk to him and apologize for not answering. He refused to let her feel bad, and said that it was alright. They talked for another thirty minutes or so until Lia heard him clear his throat.

“So, uh, Lia, um… I was just wondering if you um..” He groaned through the phone in embarrassment. “I just...Ijustwantedtoknowifyouwantedtogooutwithmetonightfordinner,orsomething.” His words rushed out as if set on fast forward. She couldn’t help but giggle softly to herself at how nervous he sounded, but she was just as nervous as he was. She was never one to just spontaneously go out with someone she met that day. But she also wasn’t one to take her trust fund and travel halfway across the world either.

She sucked in a breath and clearly stated a simple “Yes. Of course I would want to go to dinner with you” She hoped that the waver in her voice wasn’t to noticeable. She heard woots, and cheers in the background. This caused her to furrow her brows.

“Who was that?” Her voice was laced in confusion as she heard crinkling and Michaels voice again. “I’m so sorry for their loudness…Those were just my, erm, friends. They wanted to hear your answer. You’re not mad at you?” She could just imagine his shrinking face as he asked her nervously. Laughing quietly she shook her head and murmured, “No, I’m not mad, it’s cool.”

There was a collective sigh as if all of his “friends” were also nervous that she would be upset. Giggling softly, she walked around her large suite and looked at herself in the mirror. She desperately needed a shower, and a hair brush. Sighing, she cleared her throat and told Michael that she would call him later and she heard the loud screams as all of his friends yelled there goodbyes. Michael must’ve went into a separate room because it got a lot quieter.

“Excuse them beautiful, they can be quite obnoxious sometimes…” His voice shook as he apologized for the strangers. She just laughed; he really was adorable

“No, don’t worry, it’s fine.” Michael breathed a heavy sigh of relief and said his goodbyes, but right before hanging up he murmured “I’m really glad you said yes… I can’t wait to see you tonight.” Her face flushed happily as she said her goodbyes, and they both hung up in sync.
