The Games

Chapter 1

3rd person POV

All of a sudden a burst of light comes in the room and Amos bursts in, blowing his toy whistle as hard as he can.

"Why waste money on an alarm clock when we have this amazing whistle player." Avery says sarcastically.

"How can he be so energetic at 6:30 in the morning?" Harper responds. Amos is 6 and has brown hair and bright blue eyes that look like the ocean, he looks a lot like Avery.

Avery and Harper roll out of their beds and get ready for their first day of high school. Like all 14 year old girls, they are very excited. Unfortunately Amos is the only one in their family who is a morning person.

Avery decided to wear her pink and purple floral t-shirt with jean shorts and threw her hair up in a messy bun. Harper decided to wear her new jeans with a S.T.A.R. labs t-shirt from the Flash, which is their favorite TV show, and she decided to straighten her hair and left it down.

They both got ready and went downstairs for breakfast. Liam is already down there eating a piece of toast. He is 10 and unlike Amos, he has light blonde hair and big green eyes, he looks more like Harper.

Harper and Avery are fraternal twins and even though they look like opposites their interests are almost exactly the same. Same favorite book, TV show, ice cream flavor, you name it they agree on a favorite every time. When they were younger everyone called them the daring duo, because they were always together, they never went on adventures alone. They were a team, Avery was the brains and Harper was the athlete.

They both grab blueberry muffins and head off the the car with their mom to drive to school. They pull up in the parking lot of Easton High, in sunny Santa Cruz, California.

They both walk to their lockers, which are side by side. They get out their stuff for their first class, which is Geometry. When they finally find the classroom the only seats available are right in the front. The perfect start to their first day of school. Class goes on and nothing interesting happens and then they finally hear the bell ring. They head to their lockers and find that someone is trying to unlock Avery's locker. She walks up to him and aggressively taps him on the shoulder.
"Excuse me but this is my locker!" She says angrily.
He looks up and their eyes lock. He's gorgeous, he has soft brown eyes and nicely cut blonde hair. Avery immediately finds her self blushing.
"Oh, sorry I thought this was my locker, I must have mixed up my locker number; I think mine is the one next to you. My bad."
Avery was speechless.
"Uuumm uh it's ok," she stuttered.
"My name is Henry, what's your name?" He said.
"My name is Avery." She managed to tell him without stuttering.
"What class do you have next?" He asked.
"Honors English." Avery said with a sigh.
"Oh I have that too, do you want to walk to class with me?"
"Sure."
They got their books and set off to find the English classroom, while Harper just smiled and watched them walk down the hall together. She went to her next class, which was geography, and met up with their best friend Lucy and fill her in on everything that had happened.
