I Must Ask You

It’s so hard to put the words together,

When it comes to you, they just fail me.

But now I need to ask, will you ever

Believe in my words and begin to see?

When we’re together, I feel as if I’m complete

When we’re apart, time feel endless.

And my heart longs for the moment we’ll meet

So I can once again feel your tenderness.

I lost the count of how many nights

I cried myself to sleep, wondering

If you knew that you are my joy, my light

That it’s only for you that my heart was pounding.

I am not ashamed to say, I can be too weak,

Sometimes I can’t stand on my own.

Sometimes I’m way too sad, way too sick,

And it’s always you who doesn’t let me be alone.

Now, it is my turn to show you.

Close your eyes, feel this moment

Let me show you my love too.

I must ask you something.

My love, marry me,

Be mine forever.

Promise me you will be,

Promise me we’ll be together.

You don’t have to ask me, my dear.

You already know all that I’m living for.

You already know I’ll always be here,

And that I’ll love you forevermore.

I am not a perfect poet, I know I am far from that too.

But I am willing to be a perfect lover for the rest of my life.

I’ve been right behind you, now let me be right beside you.

And I shall be your best friend, your soul mate, your wife.
