EXTENDED SUMMARY:
Isabella Holt knows that her younger brother, Marcus, is better at handling relationships than her. He's charming and irresistible and funny and extroverted and interesting while Isabella is just, well, plain. She supposes she's a bit like her Uncle Ray. They're both not greatest at showing emotions.
But when her little brother just happens to be dumped by one of Uncle Ray's detectives the same time Isabella's boyfriend of a few weeks decided to cut their relationship short, Marcus springs up the idea that Isabella saw coming — blind dates. And as much as she doesn't want to do it, Marcus pressures her to, which brings Isabella walking into the 99th precinct, head raised and ready to ask her uncle if he could get Marcus to piss off.
What Isabella doesn't expect is for Uncle Ray to introduce her to everyone, and to overhear his assistant say something along the lines of: Rosa wants to bone your niece, the same way she boned your nephew, and for her uncle to say: Oh, goodness.
Isabella still goes on the blind date, and when that ends up being an utter disaster, she finds herself in the 99th precinct again, looking for her dearest uncle. When she finds that he's not there, she seeks comfort in Rosa Diaz. Isabella's drunk and is saying stupid shit, and Rosa doesn't know what to do, so she brings Isabella to Rosa's apartment.
And maybe Rosa doesn't just want to bone Isabella. And maybe, when Isabella wakes up with a killer hangover, she leaves the apartment instantly, and finds out sooner rather than later that it was Rosa's apartment she slept in. And maybe, Isabella finds herself hanging around in the 99th precinct more often.
Some would say Isabella's got a small crush.
But she doesn't. She used to until she found out that Rosa was Marcus' ex.
