Amelia
It was the big day. My wedding day. I didn't realize I would be this nervous. Me, Amelia Mitchell, soon to be Amelia without the last name Mitchell. There was so much to do still, I feel like this wedding ceremony has taken over my life the past year, what am I going to do once it's over? Stupid question Amelia, you're going to be married. Oh boy, I'm talking to myself again.
Something felt missing, I don't know I didn't imagine feeling this way on the best day of my life. I stared at the full body mirror at myself. I looked beautiful, I felt beautiful. I finally got a second to be alone and I took time to appreciate this. I loved going to weddings and first seeing the bride in her gown, it was my favorite part because no matter how horrendous the dress was, the bride always looked stunning. I truly believed I loved my dress more than anything. It has a sweetheart neckline and was long sleeved and tight fighting until it reached my thighs where it sort of had the mermaid look, but not there yet. It's fit loosened as it got down. It was the whitest dress I have ever seen and I felt as if I were glowing in it. I grabbed the bouquet and took a deep breath as I heard a knock on the door. It was the wedding planner with my mother in tears the second she saw me. She would be walking me down the isle.
"It's time Melia." She said smiling as she looked at me.
"Alright mom, time to get a grip." I laughed and kissed my mothers cheek as she wiped a tear or two.
Hand in hand me and my mom walked to the ceremony as the music began and my bridesmaids began walking down the isle. Christina being the maid of honor.
The doors in front of me opened and I saw my future in front of my eyes. Everyone stood to look at me as I began to walk at my mothers side as I rehearsed so many times. I took a deep breath as I pursed my lips and gave my most "bridal" smile. Each step I took I got a step closer to the rest of my life, is it normal to want to turn around and run away.
Brides get nervous before the wedding right? That's all this was. I loved him, yeah, of course I did or else I wouldn't even be here.
Before I knew it I was kissing my mothers cheek as she handed me off to my lover. I looked deep into his eyes, I loved him. But was I in love with him? SHUT UP AMELIA. Just get married and get out of your head. Oh great, I wasn't listening I don't know what part we're at.
Vows, oh nice, vows are nice.
We decided that short and sweet was the way to go, we knew how the other felt about us.
"Amelia, my little lovebug Amelia." I couldn't help but grin widely as I heard him call me lovebug, the little pet name I've always loved. "You are the most beautiful human being, and I am not just talking about your beautiful looks. You have made me fall more and more in love with you everyday since the second you bumped into me while walking into our first class." I couldn't get rid of the huge goofy smile I had on my face. "Thank you for being the love of my life and the best soulmate I could ask for."
I kinda just stood there, unaware that it was my turn.
"God, I love you." I couldn't help but mumble. "Growing with you has been one of the worlds greatest gifts. You taught me so much about love and life and myself. You make me an amazing person and without you I can't imagine life. You have always been there for me and I have never been more happy than to commit myself to you for life today."
I was out of breath, I wasn't even sure what I just said I was so nervous. I didn't hear a word the priest said and only when my no longer fiancé, but husband, said "I Do." and put a ring on my finger. Now I have to pay attention.
"Now do you, Amelia Mitchell take David Holland to be your husband."
"I do."
