From wood to wood the valley runs

Infant river sings her song

Meadow and plough adorn her cheeks

Along the wild things path I go.

Foxes watch from meadowsweet bower

Skylark song falls, a heavenly shower

Deer eyes and butterflies

Otter whiskers and spider webs.

Pheasant calls from wooded cover

Pigeon coos

Blackbird pinks a wild alarm

Where can they hide from human harm?

Sunlight

Moonlight

Dimpsy, dawn and half light

Eyes watch ever from the shadow.

Three miles the valley follows

Road bounded to east and west

Romans once bestrode it so 'tis said.

Caesar's legions

marching proud

Eagles leading.

Now alone I march the acres

Join me

Where I walk with ghosts.
