It was a cold night in leafbare. Soft pawsteps cracked the snow. Snow felt early for the time of the year and it was colder then usual. There was a cat shape walking in a place with dens while other cats where asleep. The cat, a ginger she-cat with a swollen belly looked around. She had no idea she was being followed.

"Firestream" the voice meowed. "Where are you going? You know your kits can come every moment now." Firestream sighed. "Yes, but I need to see him..." The cat padded forward. "There will be a better chance but not at night with the freezing cold. We better head back to the nursery." The cat gave her friend a comforting lick. "Thanks Silverspot, I... I just don't know what to do without him." Firestream needs while the two she-cats padded back to the camp. "You know he got a clan to look after..." Firestream nodded in agreement. "You only know about my secret Silverspot please don't tell the rest of the clan about this." She rested her tail on Firestreams shoulder and brushed it comfortably. "I won't"

A few days had passed since Firestream walked out the camp. While her belly grew more round there still was no sign that the Skyclan Queen would start kitting soon. She sighed. "Why did everything have to be so complicated. I...I have to see him..." Firestream mewed to herself. There was a hint of sorrow and love in her voice while her green eyes were sparkling. The night had fallen and the cats of Skyclan were asleep in their nests only Firestream wiggled in her sleep. The queen flicked her ears and opened one eye slowly. She looked around and made sure her denmates were asleep. She rose the her paws and sneaked towards the entrance of the nursery. She didn't make any noise when she left the camp and padded away from the save home of her clan.

The snow cracked under her paws. Suddenly there was a spasm in her belly. The queen laid down from the pain. Worry glanced in her eyes. There where a few need who made birth in the trees nearby fly away. Tiredness hit the queen like a warrior catch it's prey. Firestream rested her head on her paws. She closed her eyes for a moment and hoped she would get a nice sleep.

Firestream sniffed the air. The freezing pain stung in her nose but there was a new scent. I sweet one. Firestream looked up and looked at the small ball of wet fur laying close next to hear. She grabbed it by her scruff and started to lick it in the wrong way of her golden fur so she would get it warm. Hopefully long enough for someone to find her. The queens tiredness grew strong with each lick. "Young Kit..." She started while she laid her head between her paws and the young mewing kit. "I promise you, to guide your pawsteps and to keep you safe" She gave the kit one last lick and fell asleep once again.
