46. Gordie Lachance (Stand By Me)

Start from the beginning

It was weird. Gordie really did like the way you looked in your pajamas. You looked... cozy? He didn't know how to describe it. It was cute nonetheless.

Chris append his hands together. "Alright, crew, let's set up."

"Sir, yes, sir!" Teddy responded with a quick salute.

Everyone grabbed their sleeping bags or bed rolls and chose a spot. Gordie noticed when you rolled out your things right next to his, but he chose to pretend like it didn't make his heart skip a beat just like yours did when he had complimented you.

"You guys ever wonder why it's called a sleeping bag?" Vern asked.

Teddy shook his head at him. "Because they're bags that you sleep in. Come on, Vern."

"Oh.. right."

You decided to change the subject. "Guess what I saw last week." With the boys' attention, you went on about how your mom had made you go grocery shopping with her. "And this lady at the store- Mom, didn't know her, and that's even weirder- she was walking up and down the same aisle listing off types of flowers. It was strange. I accidently bumped into her, and she didn't even notice."

Teddy's eyes lit up in recognition. "Oh, there's a guy up at Togus like that. Except he lists off all his dead war buddies."

Once again, a change of subject was warranted.

"Gordie, let me paint your nails." You pulled out the different colors of nail polish from your bag.

"Umm.. I don't think so," he laughed.

Of course, you painted them anyway. When you were finished, he had shiny, blue finger nails.

"Let me see if they're dry," you said a few minutes later, after blowing on them and him shaking his hands to dry them quicker. You raided his hand to your face and lightly licked a nail.

Gordie's eyes grew a tremendous amount. "What the-?"

"Getting a little frisky, aren't we?" Teddy teased.

You rolled your eyes. "Oh, shut up, Teddy. That's how my sister taught me to tell if the polish is dry."

"I- I think they're dry," Gordie commented, his face still burning.

There was an awkward silence which Chris graciously broke.

"Hey, guys we should play one of those sleepover games," he suggested. "You know the fun ones."

"As long as it doesn't mean I have to do anything crazy," Vern fretted.

"Oh, truth-or-dare!" you exclaimed. "That way you have options, Vern."

The guys agreed, and you all got in a circle. You went first as the person to suggest the game.

"Teddy, truth or dare?"

He grinned eagerly. "Dare."

You twisted your mouth in thought. "Hmmm..."

Chris saw that Gordie was fixated on you once again and poked him in the side. "Staring's rude, Gordon."

Gordie's cheeks burned once again, but he said nothing. He just looked down, trying to avoid staring at you again.

You finally thought of one. "Teddy, I dare you to lick the floor of the treehouse."

"Psh, easy." Teddy lowered his face to the floor and moved the sleeping bag covering the wood. He stuck out his tongue to the floor and quickly licked it. His actions gained "ew's" from the others, but you just laughed.

"Alright, Teddy, you're next."

Teddy turned to Vern. "Truth or dare, Tessio."

Vern looked worried at being put on the spot. "Truth?"

"Pussy," Teddy mumbled under his breath, though everyone heard. "Okay, why are you such a pussy, Vern?"

"That's not a real question!" Vern objected.

You turned to Gordie with a giggle hiding just behind your lips, and he couldn't help but crack up

Chris, holding back a laugh. "Teddy, ask a real question."

"Alright. Is it true you still kiss your mom?" Teddy cackled, and this time everyone let out their laughs at the expense of Vern.

"You know what, I'm going home," Vern whined. "You guys are no fun."

You composed yourself quickest. "Aw, Verno. Come on. Stay, please? We won't make fun of you anymore. I promise." You held out your pinky to him, which he locked with his own and nodded.

"Okay, but I'm skipping my turn. Teddy, choose someone else."

Teddy exchanged a devious look with Chris. "Gordie, truth or dare?"

Gordie sighed, knowing what the look between his friends meant and knowing he was as well off as Vern. "Dare, I guess."

"I dare you to kiss the person to the.." he thought for a second, "left of you. Yeah.. the left." Teddy had an issue differentiating between his left and right.

Your eyes widened. "Oh, that's me..." You looked at Gordie, who was more embarrassed than he had been all evening. "Gordie, remember you do-"

Just then, Gordie smashed his lips into yours. And then he pulled back just as quickly as it took you to register what had just happened.

Gordie looked panicked. "Shit. I shouldn't have done that."

The other boys were dead silent, noticing the weight of the moment.

You ran your hand through your hair, trying to play it off. "No, no. It's fine. You're fine. I- wow. Okay."

"I'm sorry. I messed up. Teddy, why did you-? I just- Allycia, I like you."

Everyone went from unsure to very, very surprised.

Chris looked disappointed. "Well, damn, there goes my turn. I was hoping to get her to say it, but whatever."

You ignored Chris's commentary. "Really? You do?" you asked, hopefully. "I mean, because, well, I like you too."

You two looked at each other, smiling, without knowing what to say next.

"And this is the part where you two become a couple and gross out the rest of us," Teddy said, interrupting the moment.

Wow, once again, I take the cake for taking sooo dang long to update. Here is this. I'm so sorry for how long you waited for this. I'm sorry if I left anything out. I hope you still like it. M'kay.
