"This life, it ain't romantic or free. There's no path to anything that makes any sense. It's just dirty and sad. And we both know it's only going to get worse." -Wayne Unser, Sons of Anarchy

Cassidy Weber has been obsessed with murder-mystery novels and television shows her whole life. Crime, gangs and drugs just happen to be apart of it. Ever since she was little, something like a book falling off the shelf or sudden wind had always sparked interest in her.

Cassidy lived a pretty normal life right outside of Toledo, attending Toledo High in her senior year of school. She has a little brother, Thomas, who is 10 years old and loves none other than annoying his sister and playing his xbox. Her mom, Amy, was a nurse and her dad, James, was a scientist. Unfortunately, her parents were split and she lived by the lake with her mom and occasionally spent weekends with her dad. She had already made her peace with it, being that she is 18 years old, but her younger brother, Thomas, was not okay with this and could not fathom the idea of why his parents wouldn't want to be together. He would not let up on the situation, until his mom, Amy, would give a satisfactory answer on why they split. But how do you tell a 10 year old that his father had affairs with his babysitters, who were in their teens, that made her feel like nothing more than chopped liver? That's right, you can't, or at least it would be hard for him to hear and understand. Amy Weber just sticks with her story that James, her former husband and Thomas' father, was not the man she married, that he had changed.

Thomas doesn't really understand all of Cassidy's crazed obsession with mysteries. Sometimes when a cat disappears, Cassidy goes all out and scopes the scene, taking hair samples, collecting footprints and anything that seems out of the ordinary. Cassidy never gives up hope that she can solve a mystery because there must  be a logical reason it leads back to a certain person because they just had to be there.

Cassidy just wanted a normal life and that's what she hoped she'd get by going to a regular high school and making average grades because, that's what normal kid does right? Well other than her best friend, Kasie, she doesn't really have a lot of friends since she is a bit of the antisocial loner type. She met Kasie during the time in her life when all she knew was blades, fire and pain. Kasie helped her through the rough patch and just kept being there for her, although Cassidy could never figure out why, why anyone would be genuinely nice to her or to care about her. Kasie actually adores the way Cassidy plays detective and thinks it's kind of fun and sometimes agrees to help her figure out the mystery.

Cassidy was a bit naïve. She thought she could play detective. For a while, she was pretty good at it. That is, until, her neighbor goes missing.
