"Reek," Ramsay interrupted, grabbing you by the arm and pushing you away, causing Theon to jump and cower away again.
"Let go of me," you spat, clawing at his fingers with your nails, freeing yourself from his grip. "I will make you pay for whatever it is you have done to him," you growled, turning your eyes back to Theon. "I promise you, Darling, I will make this better." His eyes were still wide, his body shaking and terrified, but you moved closer again, pressing your lips to his and feeling his quivering stop. "I love you."
Ramsay didn't say anything else as you moved away from his newest pet, watching as you marched from the room, fury clear in your eyes. He would have to do something about you before it was too late.

The courtyard was silent, unnervingly so, as you crept across it. Your feet were bare, you had hoped that it would help you to move undetected throughout Winterfell, but all it had done was leave your feet numb from the cold. You glanced around you, checking for anyone who could stop you before dashing across the cobbled floor and towards the kennels. Theon would be there, you were sure of it. The gate rattled as you tried to shift it open, loud enough that it could have given you away, but you quickly slipped through the gap, pulling it closed behind you and ducking into the shadows. There was no way you could let them catch you now, you had come too far to fall at the last hurdle.
You could hear the whimpering coming from the furtherest cage, and you felt your heart sink. "Theon?" you whispered, moving through the darkness until you reached his bed. He was curled on the pile of dirtied hay, shaking in fear as you got closer. "Theon, Sweetness, it's Y/N," you told him, kneeling at his side. "I'm here to help you." He rolled over, looking at you for a moment. You could feel the tears coming to your eyes as he simply stared at you, with no hint of recognition in his eyes.
"Y/N?" he repeated quietly, though his voice was different, nothing like the deep rhythm you had grown to love.
"That's right, Darling," you answered softly, "I'm your wife," you continued but he kept staring as you moved closer to him. "You're going to have to listen to me, do you understand?" you asked him, watching as he nodded at you. "Ramsay is trying to change you, Theon, but you can't let him."
"Reek," he uttered, and just like that the tears were no longer held back, running down your cheeks as you slumped slightly on the floor.
"No," you sobbed, almost silent as you reached for his hand, "You are not Reek, you were never Reek." His brow was furrowed as he watched you cry and you pulled his hand to your lips, pressing a kiss to his knuckles. "You are Theon Greyjoy, Heir to the Iron Islands and Ward of Lord Eddard Stark, and Ramsay Bolton cannot break you," you continued, as you pulled away from him. "Please, Theon, you have to remember," you spoke through the tears.
"Theon," he muttered to you and you nodded as his hand moved to your cheek on its own accord. "Y/N," he continued and you nodded again, a smile coming to your lips. You saw his face fall as his memory began to return, and within seconds he was in your arms, cradled like a child against you. "Gods, Y/N," he muttered again and you continued to nod as you held him as close to you as you could get him.
"It's okay, Darling, I'm here," you told him, running your hand over his back as he continued to shake against you, "I've got you." You held onto your husband until the shaking and sobbing came to a stop, pressing your lips to the back of his head and attempting to steady your breathing. It felt good to have him back in your arms after so long, despite the horrific smell that the kennels seemed to give off.
When he had calmed himself he moved away from you slightly, hugging his arms around his body, but his eyes remained fixed on you, unwavering. "Did he hurt you?" he asked you softly, his voice beginning to return to the one you had grown used to. "Did he put his hands on you?" he asked again when you remained silent.
"Theon," you whispered, almost silently, taking his hand in yours, "I'm sorry," you muttered, wiping at the tears that had begun to fall.
"You have nothing to be sorry for," he told you, his hand squeezing yours slightly.
"I didn't know until after Ramsay came to Winterfell," you continued, and his brow furrowed as he looked at you. "I don't know if it was from the stress of the invasion or something else, but I lost a baby. Your baby." You pulled your hand from his and wiped the back of your hand across your eyes.
You heard Theon sniffle, moving to his knees and crawling towards you, and when he pulled you into his arms you felt his tears falling on your shoulder. "I'm sorry I wasn't here for you," he told you, the words catching in his throat as you finally wrapped your arms around his waist, allowing him to comfort you.
"I heard about what Ramsay did to you," you muttered again, "is it true?" you mumbled into his skin, the warmth of it bringing you more comfort than you had felt since you had lost him. You could feel him nodding, unable to speak the truth aloud. "So, we will never be able to have children of our own?" you asked again, and you felt a large sob wrack through his body.

It wasn't until a few days later that you came to the decision that you would have to leave Winterfell, by whatever means necessary. You had come up with plenty of plans, running through each and every one in your head, picking them apart until you were left with only one. A Fire.
You started the flames as far from the main gate as you could get whilst remaining undetected, waiting until the sun had set to begin your work. You knew that Theon would be left in the kennels as soon as the dusk came. As you rounded into the courtyard you could hear the people yelling, bustling around and all leaving their posts as you got closer and closer to your freedom. Theon was waiting for you, just inside the gate of the kennel, a smile on his face as he stepped outside and gripped your hand in his, pulling you towards the safety of the outside world. Neither of you was sure of where you would go, but you had a good feeling that you would never return to Winterfell.
