jennie kim was on her way to her part-time job at a well known cafè, called simple.

simple was a name chosen by her boss and friend, lee jihoon, for a reason jennie didn't understand.

but as jennie was about to enter the cafè she saw a girl she hadn't seen before, talking to her boss.

so out of curiosity jennie opened the door and asked, " jihoon, who's this? " while making a gesture towards the girl next to him.

" oh, her name is park chaeyoung. she recently started working here, since i had to fire namjoon.. for reasons " he quickly said.

chaeyoung bowed and said, " i know jihoon just introduced me but my name is park chaeyoung and i look forward to working with you. " she said with a soft smile on her face.

jennie couldn't help but smile back, which made jihoon cringe a little at the sight.

" well anyways, jennie since you're here i need you to show chaeyoung the basics. " he said, as he turned to jennie

" sure, but why can't you do it? " she asked

" jennie you've asked too many questions today and we've only been talking for 5 minutes! " he said in an annoyed tone, " but I'm meeting up with my other friends "

" are they friends that you won't let me meet, cause they are quote unquote ' too embarrassing '? " jennie asked with a chuckle

" jennie im going to hit you with my guitar if you ask another question, but yes those friends.." jihoon said annoyance lacing his tone

" well im leaving now, i wont be back until the last shift, so i won't see you for the rest of the day. oh yeah, and don't bother texting me for help. " he said with a glare, as he exited the cafè and waved goodbye.

jennie waved and soon turned towards chaeyoung and tried helping her with the register before the cafè opened.

jennie's co-worker, kim jisoo, showed up after about 5 minutes and began helping jennie show chaeyoung the ropes since jennie didn't know much about registers while jisoo did.

jisoo helped chaeyoung and the cafè opened about ten minutes later. they had their first customer of the day show up about 2 minutes after opening.

chaeyoung was behind the register of course, jennie was serving the drinks and food, and jisoo was making the coffee and pastries along with their fellow co-worker, bambam.

their shifts went by fast and before they knew it, it was time to go home for the day.

bambam left first, because he still had to stop by the market before all of 'the good shit' ran out. his long legs going faster than ever.

shortly after that jisoo left so she could go feed and play with her dog, dalgom. jennie was a bit surprised at that since jisoo is usually the one to stay back and wait for bang chan and the others to get here.

jennie ended up having to stay behind a bit, but she decided to utilize the situation and ask chaeyoung about her first day on the job instead of being bored.

she found the taller in the work room taking off her work uniform. which made jennie laugh at chaeyoung since the taller was struggling to close her small locker, which made chaeyoung look her way.

" oh my gosh, you almost gave me a heart attack. i thought you would've left by now. " chaeyoung said while holding a hand over her heart.

jennie smiled at that.

" i mean, i normally would've been gone but i wanted to ask how your first day went. since it's just a thing i do with new employees. especially because my first day here went horribly.. my friend was bad at his job. " 

she chuckled as she remembered how namjoon would always forget what the costumer said and would just guess their order by their voice or style, while they found a seat in the cafè.

the hilarious technique that often led to jennie getting shouted at by angry customers, and bad yelp reviews.

it also led to namjoon getting fired last week.

" it went pretty well. i actually think i messed up a bit at first, but i slowly got used to it. " chaeyoung replied as she continued to struggle with the locker.

the other just staring at her struggle.

" well that's great, but before we get into a long conversation i actually have to head home and feed my babies. " jennie stated

chaeyoung was shocked, " i didn't know you had kids. how old are they? can i see a picture? i adore children! "

jennie was confused for a little and then realized her poor choice of words.

jennie quickly corrected herself, " i meant my dogs, kuma and kai. sorry for the confusion i just call them my babies, i don't really have kids "

" oh well, " chaeyoung looked a bit disappointed at the fact that she didn't have kids but was happy that she had puppies which are equally as adorable

jennie went to help chaeyoung with her locker until chaeyoung said something.

" hey jen. you seem really nice so i was hoping that i could get your number. i wanted to y'know talk to you outside of work "

jennie smiled and complied, she gave chaeyoung her phone number and closed the locker.

she packed up her own things as well before shouting, " don't forget to text me! "

but before she could leave jennie quickly stopped at the door of the work room and began to text someone from the next shift before calling out to chaeyoung.

she had asked if the taller could stay for 5 more minutes until chan arrived.

she agreed and put her hat and apron back on before heading back to the register.

chaeyoung knew was gonna have to work a little bit harder for the next five minutes, because a couple more costumers entered the building.

jennie smiled as chaeyoung got to work and swiftly exited the building. closing the door behind her.
