Chapter 51 - Cheers

"You can get another one though can't you?" Maxi said brightly

"Probably" she replied "I'd have to look into it"

"Great then!" Maxi smiled

"Could I really leave everyone permanently though?" she sighed "My family, friends, everyone..."

"I didn't think of like that" he replied

"See, it's not that simple is it" she said, smiling at him

Maxi's phone bleeped and he smiled as he read the text message he had just received

"Oooh I know that kind of smile" Shannon laughed

Maxi grinned at her and put his phone back in his pocket

"Come on, who is she then?" Shannon asked

"She's really great Shan" he replied "It's early days though but..."

"You're kinda crazy about her right?" Shannon laughed

Maxi nodded and laughed

"Good for you" Shannon cheered "Will I get to meet her before I leave?"

"Too right" he nodded "She needs your seal of approval of course"

"Maxi, if she makes you happy and she treats you well then I'm really happy for you" Shannon said, squeezing his arm

"I'm gonna ask her to come out for New Years Eve so you can meet her then" he said, looking at his watch "Ooops, I better carry on or I'll be in trouble"

"Don't get in trouble on my account" she smiled

"See you tomorrow if not before" He said, kissing her forehead before getting up and heading back to the lifeguard tower.

Shannon stayed where she was, watching the sun rise and the waves break until Kailan came back and sat next to her, giving her a kiss

"Ewww" she giggled as he covered her in sea water

Kailan laughed and wrapped his arms around her tightly so that her clothes soaked up even more of it until she begged him to let her go while laughing hysterically.

"What time do you start work?" she asked him

"Couple of hours" he replied "Just need to run home and get changed really"

"Time for a coffee?" she suggested

Kailan nodded and they walked back up the beach, he gave Kerrbox the surfboard back and they walked to a café by the roadside.

They sat at one of the tables outside and ordered coffee from the waiter

Kailan sat back in his chair and smiled at Shannon "You ok?" he asked

"Just gonna miss that smile of yours" she said

"Just my smile?" he asked

"Well of course not the only thing" she laughed "But it is what made me notice you in the first place"

"I noticed you straight away you know" he said as their coffees arrived

"Really?" she replied

"Yeah" he laughed "Remember when I came to talk to about bag thefts?"

Shannon nodded

"Well I'd noticed you literally as soon as you arrived and couldn't stop looking over at you" he continued

"Coz that's not creepy at all!" laughed Shannon
