Once again I become afraid to write
My mind goes blank, my hands resist to move Leaving me staring at a blank page
It’s not because there’s nothing to write about
There is, I tell you, there’s a lot
But if I write this down, one by one, piece by piece
A memory after another, emotion after emotion
Once again betrayal comes in mind
The paper becomes my confidant
My confidant becomes a newspaper
My story, the headline People will read, people will know, people may judge
The story becomes a storm with a terrible aftermath What I thought would be a ripple, turned into a wave
Enough to capsize a boat, enough to drown someone even those who thought they knew how to swim
Once they drown they will know the depth,
That there are some waters they can’t swim, that shallow waters run deep
That this ocean of stories they tried to explore can swallow them whole.
