The saying everything happens for a reason takes more meaning as a teacher and teacher's daughter than it means to almost anyone else.
I was a child that my mom carefully planned for. Because I was born in May I attended a full year of high school classes before I was even born. In the years between being born and going to school at age five, I spent my time either at preschool, during my mom's school day, or in my mom's classroom with her. In my opinion that room was one of the most cheerful places in the small world I had.

Early on, because of the experiences that I had in that classroom, I decided that I would follow in my mom's footsteps and become a high school business teacher. With that, I set my mind to excelling in academics and participating in sports with my friends. I never forgot, in all of the happenings of high school, who I was or what my dream was to do. I wanted to make a difference. I wanted to help a child find their passion.

With that, my journey began on track to be a wild ride, with thrilling results. Because of my dedication to my studies, and several summer term classes, I finished college early and was able to long term sub for the remainder of that school year.
During those months, I interviewed for many jobs, but I was always met with the classic phone call of " We regret to inform that we have chosen another candidate." As I began to lose hope, I interviewed one more time. This time, I went into the panel style interview with calm confidence and prepared for any question that they may ask me.

That last panel was possibly the biggest panel that I had to face in an interview to date. This was also the biggest school that I had applied to. There was a total of eight people on the panel- The head principal, three assistant principals, and three teachers. At the time I did not know that the person who was to become my mentor, and I was to replace was on the panel in front of me.

It was nearly three months before I heard back from that school, even though I had sent a thank you note to each person on the panel right after the interview. After two or so weeks I decided to count the interview as a loss and continue looking for a position.

Nearly three months later, while I was finishing up my the last month or so as a long term sub, I answered "the phone call", or I listened to the voicemail that would change everything. The person who left the message must have known that their call would fall during the workday and left a message that told me they knew I would be busy at the time that they called.
