Seema woke up on Sunday morning with a mission. She had been thinking about the grey-eyed person for the last two days and she had enough of it. She was going to rescue him from the old man's evil clutches.

She planned a whole thing. She would get inside the old man's property without his knowledge and look for the person herself. She took her storeroom ladder in the pretence of a science project and hid outside her property. At night, she waited for her parents to fall asleep before she sneaked out of her house carrying the ladder with her.

She took the ladder and placed it on the perimeter of Mr Kumar's property. She carefully placed it on the high wall where the banyan tree was and climbed up. When she reached the top of the wall, pulling up the ladder and placing it on the other side to get down was the most difficult thing ever. It sure did look fun in the spy movies but not so much in real life. Moreover, Seema wasn't the most athletic teenager.

When she got down the ladder, she wasn't sure what to do next. She hadn't planned so far. Her heartbeat sped up, her hand sweated and legs shook. There was a fat chance she might not be able to return home after this. What the hell was she even thinking? This was a bad idea. She looked at the old mansion and cursed, in the dark of the night it looked even scarier. She looked at the sky and prayed for her safety before tiptoeing close to the banyan tree.

When she got close enough her breath caught in her throat. Once again she was met with those vibrant grey eyes and the creature attached to it. Creature could only be the appropriate word to describe the man she saw tied to the tree, with a shiny silver chain. He was leaning on the trunk huddled up, hands clasped around his knees. She couldn't see him clearly in the dark, the shadows of the tree hid him well, but she knew he was there and he was scary. The man had seen her too, she could feel his eyes trained on her. Either he was too broken to yell for help or he was scared of the old man. He did look weary though, almost scared of her, like an abused dog who is scared of everything. She felt bad for him even though she was quite frightened herself. She knew he was a victim and there was no reason for her to be scared, but there was something about him that sent a chill down her spine.

She walked forward with shaky legs, her hands in the air in a defenseless posture. The man jumped away, hiding deeper in the shadows.

"It's okay, I am here to help you," She whispered, so no one but the man could hear her.

She took out her phone and decided to take a picture of him as evidence but as soon as the flash of the phone illuminated, he snarled loudly, jumping out of the shadows and towards her like a monkey.

She screamed on top of her lungs, hiding her face and falling on her ass. Everything happened quickly. She was being dragged away from the tree. The man had stopped a few meters away from her, as far as the chain could let him come. He growled in pain as the old man took Seema away from him and towards the porch.

When Seema finally opened her eyes she saw a taser gun in the old man's hands. Seema looked up at the old man with horror as he looked down at her with annoyance.

"You don't give up, do you? You stupid girl."

"Wha.." Seema breathed heavily, still shocked from the turn of events. "Is he a madman?" She stood up, dusting her clothes and looking at the banyan tree. The man was once again perfectly hidden in the shadows.

"What are you doing here?" Mr Kumar snapped.

"I..." Seema realised how bad this looked, sneaking into an old man's house in the middle of the night. "Why do you have that man tied to the tree?"

"Don't you have other things to worry about?" He snickered. "You live in that house, don't you?" he asked, pointing to her home.

Seema nodded feeling too scared to speak anything else.
