Lost in a daze by how adorable the new girl was I didn't realize that the teacher was trying to find a place in the classroom for her to sit. "There is an empty desk right by (Y/N)" I heard him say when I finally came to. Before I could do anything she began to walk towards my direction. Right before she reached me I immediately looked down and pretended to be focused on what I had been writing, even though my mind had been everywhere else but my half completed list. She quietly sat down and pulled out a fuzzy pink notebook. How cute. When the teacher finally decided to actually start the lesson she shyly passed me a folded square of paper. When I looked up at her to ask about it she began scribbling down the notes our teacher had been writing. I decided not to interrupt her and opened the paper.  When I finally managed to open the paper I saw mainly a blank sheet of notebook paper, but in the corner was scribbled something in a soft cursive. It read "Hello desk buddy!  My name is Song YuQi. Nice to meet you! :)" If this girl is always this adorable I'm going to have to move desks.

I decided not to be mean and reply. I simply wrote back " Hello YuQi, nice to meet you. I'm (Y/N)." I neatly folded it back up in the way she originally folded it and quietly passed it back. While I waited for a possible response from her I decided to put away my list in progress and started on that night's math homework, even though the teacher had just started the lesson. By the time I made my way through the third problem she had finally passed the square of paper back. This time her note was "I'm sorry but do you mind showing me around during lunch? I'm afraid I'll get lost." Quickly I responded "Of course. I have lunch after this so you can meet me outside the door after this class finishes." I passed it back and continued to work on the homework. Soon the bell rang. I quickly showed all my stuff in my backpack and rushed out the door. I was almost to the cafeteria when I remembered I promised YuQi I would show her around. I turned around and fought against the crowd to get back to the classroom as fast I could, afraid she thought I ditched her and left.

When I got back to the class I saw her waiting there. I quickly rushed up and apologized saying that I went to the bathroom and was ready to give her a tour. "Can we stop at my locker first?" she softly asked. "Sure, just lead the way." I noticed that she quietly looked down at a piece of paper in her hand, she looked up and said "Umm... I actually don't know where my locker is." Trying to be as nice as I could I asked for the sheet of paper and offered to help her find it. Her locker was A638, right in the English hall. Really close to my locker. I directed her to her locker and helped her get it open. She put some of her books in there and closed it, turning to me to leave but I asked her if I could go to my locker. "Of course! Where is it?" she asked. "Oh, my locker is just right here around the corner of this wall. Walking there she was surprised how close our lockers were. "Oh my god! Our lockers are so close together! Yay buddies!!" she excitedly squealed. Normally I was not used to this much enthusiasm but I tried my best to match it. "Yeah~ yay buddies." I tried to cheer.

After I finished getting what I needed from my locker I asked YuQi for her schedule. I took out my phone and snapped a picture of it. She seemed surprised I took a picture but didn't question it. I could tell she was confused so I just answered I took a picture because I needed to know which classes to show her. She seemed to calm a little after deciding I wasn't a creepy stalker and she didn't make a mistake in choosing me to be her buddy. I showed her just the main stuff as to try and not waste time. After the quick tour I noticed we still had 30 minutes of our hour lunch left. "What to go get lunch now?" I asked as we made our way towards the cafeteria. "Sure~ but I brought a lunch, so if you need you can go buy yours and I'll wait here." With that I left and went to go buy my lunch. When I came back she asked where I wanted to sit. With this question I pondered whether to ditch lunch with my friends and eat lunch with just YuQi or if it was worth taking the risk of introducing the adorable newcomer to my friends.

I was nervous about introducing YuQi to my friends because my friends and I are kinda the opposite of YuQi. We dress mainly in dark colors and we don't really talk to people besides each other. I decided to take the chance and take her to eat with my friends. Who cared if she thinks of me differently, right? Wrong, I cared.

I took her by the wrist and led her outside towards the field. "Where are we going? The cafeteria is that way isn't it?" she asked as I dragged her out the metal doors. Outside it was a pretty day, the wind blew softly and the sun was out. Normally me friends and I sit on the bleachers but on a day like this I knew i would find them under our favorite big oak tree.  When we got there my friends were already laying down and naming clouds, guess they already finished eating. When we approached the group they quickly became a little defensive at the sight of YuQi. "Guys stop. This is a classmate of mine. Her name is YuQi, she is a transfer. Try not to give her a hard time." I warned. YuQi and I sat towards the outside of the group, I don't want to send her into that mess too much today. "YuQi these are my friends Evie, Aileen, Shannon, Caroline, and Shannon's boyfriend Thomas." "Hey" they all replied respectively. "Stay away from Shannon and Thomas though, all they ever do is make out." "You're just jealous because Cara isn't interested" Shannon teased, but even though I knew it was just a joke it still stung a little. "Okay that's enough" I said as YuQi and I sat down on the grass.

As we sat down and I started eating my sandwich YuQi whispered "Who is Cara?" Hesitantly I answered. "Cara is the girl I asked out last month but she turned me down. Turns out I was reading the signs wrong and she isn't gay." At this YuQi just said "I'm sorry, you seem like a really great person to me. Maybe she just wasn't the one." I could tell she was trying to give me hope, and I decided to hang on to that for a little while. After lunch I walked YuQi to her next class, art, and headed to my Spanish class. YuQi seems nice, I like her.
