For as long as I can remember my siblings have never failed to disappoint me.
Starting with disappearing leaving the little child I was, abandoned to be fed on by hungry hunters.I had an extremely loving father.I think I had an elder brother also not certain though. However that is the past and I remind myself that wasting time pondering over the why's and who's and What's will not get me anything but pain and the memory of the excruciating tormented beginning my being has witnessed. While I wake up wrapped in a cushioned comforter to the fresh smell of fresh morning dew and the softness of the breeze brushing against my cheek.Lavish? Indeed. To wake up, another day and be another me.
"YOU SORRY EXCUSE FOR A DAUGHTER! COME OUT NOW!"
Sweet Morning. Although the words seem familiar they are not routine.
I grab the soft woollen robe from the side table and put it on while I head out the door into my false reality.
"ENOUGH! With all the shouting"I say leaning to the railing looking down upon the petty faces with pity. "And Greetings to you to Mother." I wish as I find my way down the flight of stairs to join what one would call family.
"WHAT ARE YOU UP TO?!"She screams.
"Ahhh! Mother! Quiet down! I mean I did guess time would scar your being, that which you spend a remarkable amount of time beautifying but loosing sight just so soon seems unfair given all you spend on surgery. As for your question I just helped myself with a fine bottle of champagne from the fridge. Would you like some?"I say polite smiling and raising my brows.
It seemed to annoy her all the more, however that wasn't my intention per se.
"Quit it!What games are you playing? What is it that you want?" She questioned with authority walking closer to the opposite side of the counter.
"Well Last night I was playing the game that seems to be everybody's obsession lately. It had a minimal thought after name. Although I did seem to have my troubles navigating through it. I did seem rather lost." I try hard to recall but I could hardly remember the details. So I shrugged it off.
"You little swine! Ungrateful piece of shit!" She yelled.
"Answer me!" She demanded.
"As much as I enjoy your pointless vicious accusation, I have done no such thing that you assume are crimes I committed." I defended.
"You mean to say you have nothing to do with this letter?"She asked holding a white piece of paper in the air.
" Yes." I answer.
"Might I have a look at that?"Asked my brother flicking the paper right through mother's fingers as he entered the kitchen. He walked over to me."You stink of sweat! Bother taking a shower after practice?" I grimaced.
He only chuckled and started unfolding the letter.
It was a letter addressed to mother. It said.
Mrs. Pearson,
We thank you for having taken absolute care of our precious but we do feel it's time we received that who belongs to us back. Our gratitude for all that you've done falls short of words and we respect you however, should you not oblige or co-operate we will be forced to take what's ours by whatever means necessary.
Regards.
"Oh my dear Mother! I had nothing to do with this petty warning. I'm certain that you're aware, I do not do threats." I raised my brows.
"Oh I'm well aware." She squinted her brows.
"It was perhaps the man who demands for his belongings which you seem rather reluctant to provide." I speak with a crooked smile.
" Money matters are none of your concerns."she spat.
" Yes well, in that case, this letter shouldn't be either mother, should it?" I question.
"Tell me mother, does it suit you, holding money like this being the WIFE of a reputed chief?" I asked with a crooked smile sipping my drink.
She faked a smile and left without a word.
My brother walked over to the other side to see her off.
On his return, he looked rather concerned."It was not about the money."He stated.
"I'm aware."I spoke
"What could it be?" He enquired
"Apparently you intend to find out. Mother would be foolish to believe it's about the money. No one well, no one but her, would ever stoop so low for money."I said
"And what is it that you believe?" My brother asked
"Well what I believe is that I may not be plotting against our beloved mother, doesn't mean nobody else is." I stated.
"Well then, we better find the person concerned. We have a new enemy."
"Ahh No brother! I'd say we have a new friend and if I were you I'd be happy about it." I sipped my champagne with joy.
"Oh for the love of God Sister! It's 10 in the morning!" He cursed.I simply smiled. He rolled his eyes.
"Do not do that crooked-smile thing with me."He warned. I chuckled.
"Well that said.I think it's time for you to get dressed. We do still need to get to work." He said taking away my glass of champagne.
"Uhuh" I found my way to my room and got dressed for work.
As the children of the chief we have gotten away with a mighty load of things along with having learned our way through the system. We've seen horrors, studied the disturbed, witnessed tragedies and struggled for stability.Experience teaches a lot more than one would give it credit for.
