BOOM!
The high tower shook as Jack and his family stood in fear not knowing what to make of the situation. The prophecy was coming to light. The destruction of the planet was happening. Jack dared to look around as rubble from the ceiling fell. A crack in the wall had created a new window for light to seep in through and had created a port hole for jack to look out on. The city of Kryos stood in the distance swallowed by flames and the rumbles of the planet's core were being defended by the screams of men women and children below. On the wall opposite Jack stood the family symbol, slanted to one side now disturbed by the occurring destruction and chaos.
"Jack, darling we need to leave" his mother spoke.
Her once blue dress with the family symbol engraved on it was now covered in soot and dust. Her face wore a look of determination but Jack knew she was just as terrified as him, her hands trembled at her sides, his father held her hands and whispered something in her ear. Jack couldn't hear them over the explosions outside. He turned to see out the makeshift window, the once orange sky had now been turned a harsh grey and black. Large columns of magma erupted from the ground, shattering it. These magma bursts provided the only source of light on the planet below. Jack looked in horror as the once towering city of Kryos began to sink into the ground of the planet, the large towers crumbled and fell into the bubbling lava, the heart of the planet was gone in seconds, 120,000 lives destroyed in a matter of seconds.
Jack was frozen in fear. So frozen he didn't see his mother approach him from behind with a glistening needle in hand. The last thing he felt was a stabbing pain in his neck as the world around him fell even deeper into darkness and he collapsed to the ground. Unconscious...
When he awoke, the world was silent. The screaming had almost seemed non-existent.
He had to react quickly. Flashing buttons. Glass case over his head. The dashboard in front of him. He knew exactly where he was. An escape pod. He looked around startled as his mother and father watched from outside. Thier hands pressed on the glass. Fresh tears streaming down their cheeks.
"We are sorry Jack, but we cannot allow you to die with us. We did this to ourselves, you should not be the one to suffer for our mistakes". His father spoke through the tears.
Jack wanted to scream. "why can't you save yourselves!" he yelled at his parents, the world around them falling apart. The escape shuttle hanger was collapsing.
"We love you so much, Jack. Carry us with you through the stars and make a better world than we did" His mother said. "The planet you are going to will give you great powers but self-control is of utmost importance. You must be kind and always gentle with the human kind"
"Goodbye my son"
And with that, the engines started as Jack tried to beat his way through the glass to his parents, one final time. He looked back as they held each other among the dying world. And soon they too were lost among the flames.
He wanted to throw up, vomit settled in his throat as he reached the outer atmosphere of the planet. But it wasn't over yet. He turned himself around to face the planet only to realize in horror that the surface had been completely riddled with large columns of magma spewing from the crust each one coming up faster than the last, the ground seemed to become sand as the planet fell apart. Jacks mouth dried up as the planet almost seemed to expand for a moment and then...BOOM! pieces of crust came flying, one minute Jack was sitting in the comfort of his escape shuttle. Next, debris hit his shuttle and knocked him out.
"Humankind" Jack wondered as he fell into darkness...
