I grabbed what was left of the unspoiled food. The zombie apocalypse had only started yesterday but in that time period over half of the city was overrun by the zombies. All of a sudden a terrifying scream ruined the silence that was once full of the birds beautiful music. I quickly ran petrified thoughts flying in and out of my brain as I finally made it to the door of our two story house. I quickly flew the door open to reveal a green, skull broken, brain exposed, ragged clothes, no shoes zombie feasting on my sister Angels brain.
I couldn’t hold back the smile on my face. Angel and I where never close so her death didn’t really affect me. I walked back inside quietly that way I don’t draw attention to the very vicious zombie. I walked upstairs quietly to my room to find my sister Hunter sleeping soundly on my bed. I walked over to her and started to poke her.
If she doesn’t wake up soon then I am going to have to sacrifice her. Again a smile creeped up upon my face. I got really annoyed of her not waking up so I grabbed her and threw her on the ground. That woke her right up. A look a fear was worn on her face as I stood staring down on her.
“Come we have to get out of here before the zombies start to get hungry again. Cause I don’t know about you, but if I go out i’m going out on my own terms not because YOU didn’t want to come” A smile slowly creeped up onto her face as she pictured me trying to sacrifice her. I let out a irritated groan, I got tired of people thinking that just because i’m shorter than them that i’m weaker. I slowly creeped out of my room and looked towards my parents room. I remember my mom’s gracious laugh.
I walked out of my room normally until a booming sound startled me. Of course it would storm during the apocalypse.I walked back into my room where Hunter stood, looking at herself in the mirror. We had once been fat marshmallows, but now if you knew us we were sticks.
I walked over next to her. Hunter had Dark brown hair reached down to her back, and a once round plump face. She also wore a green long sleeve sweatshirt and black leggings with brown running shoes. While I wore a black long sleeve shirt, black leggings, and purple running shoes. My black hair reached down to my waist long enough to hide my pale, anorexic looking face.
My once Beautiful blue-green eyes now are blue-gray. “W-we have to go Hunter.” In all honestly I was terrified. In all the time since the zombie apocalypse started all we did was wait inside our house. As I walked towards the front door I glanced one more time at my parents room.
I loved them sometimes, even though we got on each others nerves I still loved them, well my mom I loved to death, my dad no so much. I tore my eyes away from their room I need to be strong. If I become weak then me and Hunter will both die. I shook my head riding of any thoughts that belonged to the old me. The new me reached out and opened the door shakely.
I didn’t want this, I wished none of this happened. I could hear the voice in my head saying, “ You don’t have to do this. You can put a gun to your head, just don’t turn into a monster.” I finally reluctantly opened the door and broke into a run with Hunter right on my heels. I kept running, running past my childhood, past the people who teased me for my love of running, past the house where my birth dad hit me repeatedly.I finally made it to the creek where the forest meets the beautiful, clear, water. I looked both ways double checking I didn’t lure any zombies near us.
