he knows how to pretend.

he'll say your name & you'll feel like no one's ever said it correctly before until then, feelin' more right than anything else in your life-

he knows the right strings in you to pull, the right places to touch and the right words to say. he's burnt stars and wilting roses but he'll spark a fire in you thay you never knew existed, consuming you whole. he'll feel like the warm malibu nights that you miss, makin' dopamine pulse through your veins, racing and rushing and-

you collide with him. you know he's no good for you & every collision with him's fire but you can't help but reach for the warmth, an icarus yearning for the sun. you let him run blazing trails down your shoulders your back your waist-

he's whiskey on the rocks burnin' down your throat, lighting you up, igniting you. every collision with him's fire on your skin, fire in your heart-

but this isn't love.
