2. Soldier 78

Soldier 78, officially unknown as Jack Morrison, was the Overwatch'S leader for two decades. Together with his augmented fellow soldier, Gabriel Reyes, they were drafted in Overwatch, with Reyes initially being the leader of the group but was later outperformed by Morrison, leading Morrison to become the commander he was renowned for. This eventually led to the creation of a rift in between the two which subsequently caused the explosion of the organization's Swiss Headquarters.

Capitalizing on his training as an elite warrior, Soldier: 76 is consequently classified as an Offense character. Using his Heavy Pulse rifle, he can consistently deal devastating damage to his enemies at any given distance. His ability to heal himself allows for in-game sustainability and his rockets provide more than efficient capacity for eliminating large and/or stationary targets. His diversity, coupled with his experience, allows him to be a considerable foe in any game mode.

3. Widowmaker

Once married to Gerar Lacroix, who was responsible for operations carried out against Talon, Amelie was once in support of Overwatch. In response, Talon, through its several unsuccessful attempts at assassination, tried to eliminate Gerard. Frustrated at the failed attempts, the organization decided to change route and instead take hostage his wife. Months after her abduction, Amelie came home seemingly unscathed. While sleeping, she unflinchingly killed her husband, instigating what really happened to her at the hands of Talon. She was, it seemed, neurologically reprogrammed to become a remorseless killer. Shortly after, she went back to Talon to complete her modifications.

Although hampered by her limited health and poor mobility, Widowmaker is a long range thrives as a sniper, killing people off from enormous distances with her vastly powerful rifle. Her Widow's Kiss rifle, when charged to its full capacity, can one hit kill nearly anyone. Complementing her attributes, her poor mobility is mitigate by her ability to climb ledges most people can't reach, allowing for areas outside enemies line of sight.

4. D. Va

When the mobile-exo-force of the Korean army (MEKA), responsible for combatting hostile omnics which arose from the sea, lost drones to pilot them, gamers throughout the country became a lucrative alternative for the government, given the downtime they could not afford to have. D. Va, once a former certified StarCraft player, became one of the recruits in the said operation.

D.Va, despite her small and non-expectant frame, is classified as a Tank character due to her powerful MEKA. Equipped with powerful short range weapons, and an Ultimate ability that can wipe out a room-full of enemies instantly, she makes for a ferocious beast of a fighter. A defining trait of D.Va is that upon death, she can actually leap out of the mech and run away, thereby extending her life.

5. Sombra

Growing up as an orphan out of the Omnic Crisis, Sombra was introduced very early in life that whoever wielded power wielded the world. This ideology emerged out of her desire to feel happy and content, emotions deprived from her by the war. During this time, Overwatch was formed, so her stint and affinity as a hacker was closely monitored by the organization, eventually leading to the arrest of her. She ran to Mexico along the Los Muertos gang but was caught when she unearthed a world-wide conspiracy that shifted the attention to her. Needing to hide, she went overground and got augmented, eventually re-emerging as the Sombra we now know.

Sombra specializes in infiltration, and is classified as an Offense type due to her speed and health, much like Tracer. Attributing to her affinity for hacking systems, Sombra has the unique ability of getting into her enemy's arsenal and momentarily disabling their skills. Once her ultimate is charged, she can infiltrate within her enemies' ranks and detonate her EMP, killing most in the area before translocating back to safety.
