Leaving bootcamp and heading into the war was the proudest moment Tim could recall in his short life. Graduating high school had flown by with little regard for its importance to his burgeoning new life. His primary drive had been the rush to deploy and defend Americas interests.

Several weeks of anticipation and glory were all that separated Tim from his goal and ambitions. The fantasies of defending his homeland and defeating the foreign evils was the most honorable endeavor a young American lad could hope for and the time had come to prove he was now a man.

The stride of a green eyed, brown haired trooper never drew focus from the fresh face of a boy in uniform. The foolishly optimistic energy poured from his soul and streamed forth from his eyes as shipped out on that first day into the Pacific theater. Bound for the lush jungles of a land he would call home for the next few months.

The eagerness to see the ocean and serve his duty clouded the reality of that decision. Poor Tim could never have believed he would bear witness to the evils of humanity first hand and come to the realization that war is a particularly personal hell.
