"Come on, Bren. You know you can't finish that in one go." I told the 15 year old next to me. He rolled his eyes and lifted the two liter of A&W to his lips, squeezed his eyes closed, and started chugging it.
I sighed. "I'm gonna make you laugh and Root Beer is gonna come out your nose." I chuckled, shaking my head lightly. The corners of his mouth lifted up in a smile. He was already halfway finished with the bottle.
"Save some for me, you little shit! You're gonna end up pissing yourself if you drink the whole damn think anyways." I whined, jokingly. I put my hand on my hip as Brendon finally finished the entire soda. I shook my head, a small smile playing my lips.
"That was a lot harder than it looked, and I don't think you realize that." He told me between short breathes and giggles. I chuckled and look off Brendon's patio. The sun was setting, but I didn't want to go home yet. Whenever I go to Brendon's house I have to come back after my parents are asleep to avoid questioning glances and words.
"Wanna stay over? I have more soda inside." He offered. I looked back at him and weighed my options. Go home and risk my parents still being awake and interrogating me, or stay over at Bren's house and drink soda with him all night? I mean, isn't the choice obvious?
"I've known you for years, at this point you don't even have to ask. Also, I've got nothing better to do." I shrugged, earning a smile from the 15 year old in front of me. He pushed open his front door and hopped up the stairs, two at a time, leaving me to close the door and follow him to his room. The room that I've spent countless hours in with him.
We both flop down on the bed next to each other and stare at the ceiling. Ready to spend countless more together. But little did we know, that would be the beginning of something truly amazing, and terrifying at the same time.
