Three days later they advanced towards York. The Saxons were celebrating one of their Saints' holy days, and Ragnar had always said that christians were either in church or drunk during their holy days. They decided to use this to their advantage.

Ubbe and Aila took a clutch of the army to find weak spots in the wall where parts had been broken in previous battles and that they could climb over.

The only people that were neither piss drunk nor in church were a few guards patrolling the walls. The Saxons fought, and they died, they ran away and died, they tried to sound the alarms and they died.

When they finally reached the gates, half a dozen knights stood guard. They died like squirming pigs, and then Ubbe opened the gates of York. He raised his axe and shouted, telling the to kill everyone. The hundreds of warriors and shield maidens rushed through the gates, swords and axes raised, and the streets of York quickly filled up with vikings.

Ragnar Lothbrok had been right. Half of the men were drunk and either passed out on the streets or vomiting. The rest of the people of York attended the mass in their holy church, the gates of which were opened by the vikings.

A woman inside heard footsteps behind her. She turned around and went mad with horror at the sight of the pagan Northmen. Eyes wide, she screamed at the top of her lungs.

Aila hated the sound of delicate women screaming. She drove one of her short swords through the woman's heart and cackled like a maniac when the blood stained her face. She raised her weapons and yelled out for the blood of the christians and for death, and the next thing the Saxons knew their church was crawling with heathens.

As the vikings slaughtered the christian Saxons in every corner of their holy building, their Bishop went to flee. He was pushed and fell to the ground, whimpering like a child as he tried to escape when a crawling boy entered his church.
