Kayne, who had claimed himself as the man who defies the gods, is now slowly making his way out of the forest. He thought to himself, Pheonix-boy, what a surprise, as he drew his blade and sliced a passing tree.

"I'm still not there yet, at the tip of the Swordsman's strength. I must further improve myself, in order to reach that man..."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We'll go back in time, just a few days before this incident. The area was rural, and quiet. That particular village, which had about a strength of 250 men, was a village that focuses on farming for a living. Kayne, who was there recovering from his previous battle with another opponent. This silent area, was a good spot, as no one would expect to see a warrior there. This particular day, was the village's most frightening day, the day Kayne met Shouto.

Kayne was at a small eatery, having his lunch after his daily training exercise. He did not expect this though, but he saw a weird looking figure, wearing a white robe with a huge luggage on his back, slowly making his way into the eatery. The figure took a deep breath, and answered to the waiter, "I would like a plate of power."

The dumbfounded waiter gave a smile and replied, "Ahhh...You're good with jokes, sir. Well we do serve power, the energy drink, Fuuton, which provides you an extra energy of 2 hours, is that alright with you?"

The white robe laughed as he removed his katanas and left them on the extra chair beside him.

"Hmph, you just don't get it do you? Nah, it's alright, then I would like your head for lunch."

The waiter shrieked in fear, "Sir, what...do you...mean?"

"I'm a reasonable man, I can pay a high price for your head, how about it?"

Kayne was alerted, he screened his eyes towards the figure and softly answered, "Are you just trying to mess with the waiter, he's the one serving you your dishes."

"Huh," cackled the figure as he turned back and faced Kayne, "It would be a pleasure to have my food served, and fresh from the waiter, right?"

Kayne spat at the ground, "You're pissing me off, robe."

"'Nuff said, muscle."

"What did you say?! Say that again."

"You know, something you have to learn to keep quiet when the elders are talking, HAVEN'T YOUR PARENTS TOLD YOU THAT, BRAT?!" the figure yelled as he stood up and walked towards Kayne.

Shouto grabbed Kayne on the collar and whispered, "Don't mess with me, kid. When the adults fight, the kids should stay at one corner. Let me warn you, I am Shouto Saikyo, The Flame.

Kayne grinned, "A hellbinder eh, I didn't realise I could meet you so soon, Flame Swordsman. I'm Kayne, the one who will defy the gods' power."

Shouto stared at him, "So what you want is to defeat me and prove your worth that you can be equal with the gods' strength? Don't make me laugh kid."

"I don't talk well with words, I prefer sparring with swords. Take me on, Hellbinder."

The waitor rushed towards the both of them, blocking their faceoff, "Really, there isn't a need for this, sirs! I'll just get you—"

Kayne pushed the waitor away, "This isn't about that anymore. We've decided to face each other off in the battlefield, we'll leave this place and not cause any trouble for you."

The two reached a meadow, and decided to have their fight there, Shouto grinned as he drew his flame katana and shined it on Kayne's face.

"Kayne, was it? You seem to have this unknown power of absorbing power from your enemies, based on your fight with Gran. As one of the Hellbinders, I possess one of the strength and power given by the Capital Lord, Genesis. Though I need not require that power right now, I'll end this battle quickly."

Kayne sighed, "So you spied my battle? Yes, I do have that unknown power you speak of. I can absorb elements and negate their effects. Don't get too cocky, because I'm not that weak as you presume."

"I see, I'm getting interested in you, similarly to Gran's interest on Frey Pheonix. Kayne, we'll have two spars, one with our blades, and another based on hand-to-hand combat. You up for it?"

"Fine by me. I shall begin!" yelled Kayne as he drew his blade from his back and charged forcefully against Shouto, attempting to reach and stab Shouto.

"Hmm...That blade you got, seems exquisive, you carved it?"

"Pay attention to the fight, don't screw with me!" Kayne growled as he jumped up high, aiming his blade on Shouto's angle.

Shouto smiled as he easily dodged Kayne's blade with ease and kicked Kayne, pushing him a few metres away, "Your swordsman skill is not too shay, but your reaction timing was too slow for me."

"Wrong," answered Kayne as he pierced the ground with the blade and created an earthquake, chasing after Shouto.

"Ha, I guessed so," Shouto grimaced as he reached the ground with his palm, "Ground Art: Earth Shield."

A sphere was created on Shouto's center and stopped the earthquake, smoothening the rough earth and calming it down. Shouto smiled, "I do not only possess the element of fire, you know. But now that I have seen much of your strength—"

"No, not yet!" exclaimed Kayne as he stuck his blade on the ground, and infused a sphere of white, absorbing magic on his left palm, coating it onto his blade, and slashed it onto the air, creating a huge hurricane, aiming towards Kayne, "Negation: Hurricane Blast!"

"Whoa, seems like an immerse power of strength." Shouto laughed as he raised his left fist, and released a fire wave to stop the hurricane. Within seconds, the hurricane that seemed like the winning strike from Kayne was totally stopped.

"Not yet!" Kayne roared as he started to vibrate his right palm, wielding the blade and made it look as though it was a drill, releasing the forced absorbed by the blade, racing it towards Shouto.

"No matter what you do, I'm a step higher. You just don't get it, do you?" Shouto sighed as he reached his hand towards the drill-like sword and stopped it completely, tossing it back towards Kayne.

"Kayne, it's my turn to show you what I meant by not good enough." Shouto answered as he drew his katana and slashed the air, creating a disecting force which cut the ground in two, dashing towards Kayne, and getting stronger with it's increased acceleration. It got faster and faster, and Kayne was too slow to escape from the slash, giving his face a scar mark. Kayne crashed towards the ground, lying down bleeding,

"You still have a long way to go," Shouto smiled as he kept his sword, "My my, I didn't expect to meet someone like you for lunch. Count yourself lucky, lad. I don't think you require a second match of hand-to-hand combat anymore."

As Shouto starts to leave, Kayne coughed out blood and answered, "...Never...leave from a fight. I want the second match."

"Yeah yeah, when you recover. I wanna see further improvements from you. You are capable of better results. Till the day we meet again, I await your second challenge."

"...No. Are you...chickening out?"

"Whatever you say."

"NO!" scowled Kayne as he slowly stood up and clenched his fist, rushing towards Shouto.

"I said we fight another time, when you're ready." Shouto hissed as he turned to Kayne and push him away, "Do not rush yourself, or you may be the one causing your own death. Someday, we will cross paths again. Till then, train, train your best."

Kayne laid on the ground, speechless, Is this what a true powerful swordsman is like...Shouto Saikyo...

"Oh, and that blade you wield, you will find out more powers in it, the Elemental Blade [エレメンタルブレード], was it?"

Kayne was astounded, how...how did he...?
