I wiped my forehead softly, getting rid of the sweat collection I've gather while baking. I don't know why I wore a long sleeve shirt to be honest, I guess I thought I was a Tumblr picture. Either way it had to go, I thought to myself. "Alright, scoot your toots. I gotta get changed," I mumble to the unusual house guests. Men and women of all different eras shuffle into a different realm, evaporating into the air. I sidestep a cat spirit and made my way to my room. I pulled off the over-sized shirt and sleeping shorts. I sauntered in to my bathroom, only to shriek and high knee it out of there.
"Who are you?" I called out covering my body. A black haired man walked out the bathroom, "Turner. Reginald Turner. I do apologize but I cannot be sorry for seeing something so...enticing." He smiled (it was more of a smirk than anything, really) politely and stepped forward. I involuntarily took a step back but not before noticing his large dimples. "Well, Thank you but if you could disappear to that place most ghost occupy, I'd like to shower and change." I was so tired of ghost invading my space but also sometimes grateful for the company and understanding. He, this Turner guy, was new however and I could play nice.
"Seriously, like poof. I can get rid of you and it won't feel nice." Reginald Turner swiped off his jacket shoulder and nodded. "Of course, Ma'am. May I return Later?" I nod without even fully thinking about it. "I do spiritual offering at seven, so that everyone may have dinner together. Be there or go hungry." I say shyly. Why was I being so timid, offerings are normal around here, like i was feeding the homeless. Reginald definitely smiled this time, "It's a date then, Curls." He slowly walked backwards into a wall, "What's your name?"
"Mistre. Mistre Young."
I spent my shower thinking about the new spirit. He was cute, but cocky at the same time, like he knew that he was leg opener. He had soft looking hair, darker than a midnight in the country, and long. I liked that. He was tan with that spectral gold hue that shimmered around experienced ghosts, and a tinge of blue around the edges. He'd died for a good reason, to save someone or something, that's the only way to get the blue aura. He was tall, like really tall, around 6'4 ish with bulking arms and a solid chest if his open collar showed me correctly. Defined jaw, chiseled cheekbones and dimples. I purred silently at the thought of his now permanent stubble. As I toweled myself off, I thought about his attire and his speech. I'd guess around 1880s, but maybe a little later. Like he had been in the populated West, rather than small towns.
I got dressed in a soft blue and brown tank top that said "I like my boys on horses." with some matching pajama bottoms. I didn't bother putting on shoes as I bounded down the stairs and whistled. Women of the different times shuffled forward excitedly.
"What are you making today, Doll?" A young 1920s flapper slurred out prettily.
A large German woman softly spoke, "A sausage for me and Hans, Ja?"
"Ja, Marge, with sauerkraut and stein. Charlotte how about those little olive hors d'oeuvres? Everyone else will have to deal with chili since they didn't come early enough." I shift around the little animals on the floor to the kitchen.
As I enter, I jump nervously, "Oh Christ, Turner! You gave me a fright."
"I came early, so I can request? If you can get me a steak and potatoes, I'd love ya for eternity." Marge giggled as she called for her husband from the living room. (Ironic, I know.) I typically left the T.V. on shows so they could watch as i prepped for the dinner. I rummage the fridge and smile pulling out a bowl of leftover steak and potatoes and broccoli. I turn on the oven and put everything in there to warm as i turn off the crock-pot to keep from burning the chili.
"Marge, two sausages? or would you like Leberkase?"
"Sausages, Ingel."
After setting up and getting Charlotte to help pass it out as soon as it passes over, I begin to whisper the words to send over the sacrifices. i decided to wait to pass over the steak to Turner. "Would you like to go somewhere else?" I jumped softly, sighing as i nod. I carry the food to my balcony and set up as I sacrifice the food. He sits across from me waiting for me to begin eating so i do. "You are brighter than the others who are Gold. Why?" He smiles and shakes his head but doesn't answer. "Come on, tell me?" He took his hat off, "I have a black glow not gold. People see what they have or in your case what you'll have."
I'm gonna glow that bright?
