After walking out that morning, Kaara made her way off to school angrily. She'd had it with her parents. Why was she never good enough for them?

Walking down the sidewalk she saw a bright red car driving toward her. She wanted to spread out her crimson wings and fly off before it could catch up, but there was no way she could expose the secret that she was a harpy. It would cause disaster.

"Hey, freak!" A voice yelled as the car got closer. That voice belonged to no other than Allison Daze, the most popular girl in school.

"You know it's against the law to be littering the streets. You should go take your bothering presence elsewhere." Allison's golden hair bounced as she spoke.

Kaara just rolled her eyes and kept walking, trying her best to ignore the spoiled, rich bitches that were following her.

"Hey I'm talking to you!" Allison grabbed her by the arm as the car made its way along side her.

"What do you want?" Kaara showed no emotion in her voice.

"Entertainment. The concept of getting under your skin is pretty amusing."

Kaara glared before yanking her arm back, resulting in Allison hitting her elbow against the car door.

"Are you ok Ally?" Her friend, Penny Corine, asked from the back seat.

"No! That witch banged my arm into the side of the car! I'm gonna get a huge bruise!"

"Serves you right." Kaara said before leaving them behind.

She got to school just as the bell rang. Rushing to her first period, she almost ran into her science teacher while entering the room.

"Careful where your going Kaara." Ms. Wail spat.

Kaara lowered her head and made her way to her desk, not wanting to make the teacher mad.

"Today class, we will be performing an experiment on chemical reactions. Before we get started go get your safety goggles and aprons."

The students did as they were told before Ms.Wail explained that she would be splitting them into groups of three for the assignment.

Unfortunately Kaara got stuck with two of the rich chicks. There names were Candy Beavess, and Trisha Hall. Kaara knew they weren't planning to do any of the work. So she just grabbed all the supplies and got started without them. If they wanted to fail then that wasn't her problem.

While she was writing down her observations she didn't notice Candy and Trisha accidentally knock over the beaker of chemicals.

The burning liquid spilled over onto her hand and she tried her best not to yell while the flesh sizzled.

"Ms. Wail." Another student by the name of Carlos grabbed her attention, noticing what had just happened.

"What happend! How did the beaker get knocked over!" She asked Kaara.

Candy and Trisha looked confused. Afraid of getting blamed though, they quickly came up with a excuse.

"Kaara was the closest to it. She probably got distracted." Trisha sneered.

"You have got to be more careful." Ms. Wail snapped. "Your hand should be fine. Class is almost over anyways. Gather up your supplies and clean the tables before moving on to second period." She said to the whole class.

Kaara went through the rest of the day with her hand ignited in pain. The blisters were gonna turn into scars soon. At least the pain wouldn't last.

When it was time to go she walked down the steps of the schools front entrance and made her way to the beach. She loved walking by the ocean and enjoying its beauty.

Thirty minutes after she got there she got a text from her mom. It read 'Your father and I are going out for a while, and if the house isn't clean by the time we get home then you're grounded.' Kaara was about to reply when her phone was all of a sudden snatched from her hands.

"So your parents don't even like you? That's pretty pathetic." Allison laughed before throwing her phone to Trisha.

"Hand it over." Kaara demanded calmly, her patience with the girl wearing thin.

"I don't think so. Trisha you know what to do." Allison snapped as her, Penny, and Candy stepped back.

Trisha was about to stomp on the phone before Kaara grabbed her wrist and swung her leg against the girls knees, causing her to fall over into the sand. She quickly grabbed her phone before any of the other girls could get their hands on it.

"You will pay for that Lovero!" Allison said before grabbing her own phone out of her purse and circling the goth, along with the other three girls.

Candy traced her fingers across Kaara's back to make her shiver and was irritated when it didn't work.

Kaara could feel her spine tingling, knowing that once her coat was taken off, her wings would be revealed.

She knew the girls wouldn't fight her. They were too frail and prissy for that. So she knocked into them before running into the trees where they wouldn't see her. Once she was out of sight she extended her deep red wings before taking off over the ocean. She didn't know where she was going but it didn't matter at the moment. She just needs to get away.
