"Hello," a timid whisper came from the carriage,
"Can I sit here? Everywhere else is full." The boy was short and had small subtle scars that littered his face; one more prominently on his eyebrow. Sandy-brown hair covered his honey coloured eyes that looked down at the floor.
Inside the carriage were three young boys. A cocky smirk appeared on a boy with shaggy black hair... "Sure, come on in,"

"These four again, Professor," Filch growled as he ushered the Marauders into the headmaster's office.
"Caught 'em sneaking off into the kitchens, at this hour!" he added, glaring at the boys as if looks could kill.
"Thank you, Argus." Dumbledore said, as his polite way of confirming that the caretaker could now leave. Filch nodded to Dumbledore, scowled at the students and left, leaving Remus, Sirius, James, Peter and Dumbledore alone to talk.
The moment the heavy, oak door closed, the boys burst into an explosion of explanation.
The headmaster raised a hand to silence them, and the boys fell quiet.
"I understand you have recently returned from the Whomping Willow?"
They nodded in response.
"You missed dinner, and you were hungry?" He asked. Once again, they confirmed.
"But we know we shouldn't have done it, Professor," Remus stated. "We should have come to you..."
Just then a cinnamon bun fell out of Sirius' dressing gown pocket. While Dumbledore's attention was focused on Remus, he bent down slowly but in a comical way, like he was in a descending glass lift. He picked up the bun and stuffed it back into his pocket as fast as he could, standing back up simultaneously, while James and Peter poorly attempted to stifle their uncontrollable laughter.
Either the headmaster was unaware of the sniggering coming from the other three boys, or he was very good at pretending not to notice.
After his brief conversation with Remus, he addressed the Marauders as a group. "I am not going to punish you, as I am quite certain you are aware," his blue eyes rested on Sirius for a moment before he swiftly moved on. "I will, however, give you all a warning; if you find yourself in a situation like this again, please come to Professor McGonagall or myself before you do anything you may regret later on."
The boys nodded gratefully and mumbled "Thank you, Professor," before turning to leave, only to be stopped by Dumbledore speaking once more.
"Mr. Lupin," he said slowly, "Before you go, may I ask... are you aware of how true and loyal your friends are?" Remus grinned and turned to the group of boys, his best friends, standing in the headmaster's office in their pyjamas.
"Oh, he'd better be," Sirius smiled.

After they returned to Gryfindoor common room, the boys stayed up talking and eating the food they took from the kitchens instead of going to bed.
"I didn't even see him on the map!" James exclaimed, cramming an iced bun into his mouth, "it's like just he popped out of thin air,"
"Do you remember how happy he was when he found us, though?" Peter asked, "It's almost like he was proud of himself," he shuddered and grabbed a biscuit from the feast they had laid out on the small coffee table by the crackling fire.
"He was probably planning on using one of his medieval punishments he's always going on about," Sirius laughed.
"Like hanging you upside down by your ankles and leaving you there swinging in the dungeons?" Remus asked him.
"Exactly!" He replied, his mouth full of food, showering Remus in cake crumbs. Remus wiped his face with his pyjama sleeve while the boys laughed hysterically.
Sirius yawned and ran his fingers through his scraggly, dark hair. Without warning he curled up of the armrest of the sofa and drifted off to sleep, closely followed by James and Peter, who slumped lazily against the sofa cushions, leaving Remus the only one awake.
He took a blanket and tucked Sirius in, carefully avoiding the river of dribble that was trickling out the side of his mouth. Remus smiled at how peaceful he looked in his sleep, before switching the lamp out and heading up to his dormitory to go to bed.
