Hi. My name is Riley Jenkins. Im 16 years old and live with my older brother Brandon who is 18 years old and our overly in love parents Jennifer and Carl.

Today is the last day of the big move. We are moving from our hometown of Garfield, IL. Dad got a job offer in St. Adams, Minnesota. I wasn't too thrilled about the whole decision and Brandon didnt seem to be either but of course we didnt have a say in the matter. Dad said it would be better and we would have more money. I really didnt want to leave all my friends. I had so many friends. I loved that school. Brandon had a lot of friends also but he was also in football and was the football star of course.

On the way to our new home Brandon and I sat in the back of the SUV. I put in headphones to listen to music. Hoping this would make the ride go faster. I look over at Brandon to see what hes doing to make the ride go faster and notice hes doing the same thing.

Brandon and I are like every other brother and sister. We pick on each other, get into fights, bicker at each other, but even though I'm probably too stubborn to say it, i love my big brother.

I watched the trees go by and eventually fell asleep. "Okay guys we're here." I heard mom say as she shook my leg. I jolted out of my sleep and rubbed my eyes. I took my headphones out and looked out the window. The first thing i saw was the towns welcome sign. It had a population of 1,500 people.

Past that the town looked like any other town. Houses scattered around, business offices here and there. Old buildings abandoned and rotting over time. It wasnt as big as Garfield but i guess that didnt matter.

At some point I spotted a group of girls walk down the sidewalk past us. Not even noticing. They were all laughing and joking and hopping around. It reminded me of my friends and I and that made me miss them even more.

We used to all meet up at my house and we'd all walk up to the park or wherever and hang out. Talk about our day at school, talk about which guy we liked, and who was hotter. Gosh i miss them.

Pretty soon we pulled up onto an old gravel driveway. I looked ahead of me and seen a huge two story house that looked to be about 100 years old. The paint on the outside looked to be pealing off and weeds were climbing up the house from the bottom of the foundation.

I scoffed. This place looked like it would fall apart at any minute. "This is our new home?" I asked. "No we just decided to stop here." Brandon chuckled. "Ha ha" I said and got out of the car. "Yes honey we are here." Mom said as we all got out. After a minute of us all gazing up at the house dad interrupted the silenece. "Well, lets get to unpacking shall we?" I grunted not wanting to do it.

As we were gathering boxes to take in the house when someone pulled up to the driveway next door. We stopped and watched as a man and woman got out. Along with a teenage boy. The man noticed us watching and stared at us.

"Uhh sorry, we're your new neighbors." Dad said waving his hand in the air chuckling. I barely heard a chuckle from the man he was talking to.
"I'm Carl Jenkins and this is my wife Jennifer." He then gestured to Brandon and I. "And this is our son Brandon, and our daughter Riley." The man glanced at us all and smiled shyly. For some reason he seemed timid. "Umm. Yes, my name is Dave Marvin, and this is my wife Linda and our son." He motioned the the teenage boy. "This is Mason." Linda said.

I looked over at the boy and without trying my mouth dropped. His eyes were the most gorgeous blue eyes I've ever seen. Blue just like the ocean. He had sandy blonde hair that was wavy but not too straight. And you could tell he had muscles.

He smiled and waved at my parents. "Hello ma'am, sir. Nice to meet you." They smiled and looked happy at his respectful manner. "Hey, im Brandon." Brandon said walking up to Mason and shaking his hand. Then he looked at me. Suddenly he went silent and for a split second i thought his mouth dropped open too but if he did he quickly corrected himself. "Uhh.. Umm. Hi, n-nice to meet you." He stammered but finally managed to say.

I giggled slightly at him but cleared my throat and smiled back kindly. "Hi, I'm Riley." "So which school the kids be enrolling in?" Linda asked. "I think the St. Adams high school down the road a ways right Jennifer?" Dad said. Mom nodded agreeing. "Oh then you'll be attending the same school with Mason here." Dave said. Finally dad broke the silence making me jump a little. "Okay we better start unpacking, it was nice to meet you again. Hope to be good friends!" He waved. Dave smiled and nodded back. Waving, they all departed towards the house.

I stood there for a moment. Staring as Mason walked in the house when i felt a hand yank my arm. I turned around quickly. Coming out of my trance. It was Brandon looking at me weird. "Whats with you? Come on lets unpack." He scoffed at me and walked off. I rolled my eyes and began bringing stuff in.
