There is an area in our galaxy called the Eye of Terror, also known as "The Eye" for the Chaos Space Marines. Deep inside this terrifying warp storm lies a fortress, a sky city, protected by powerful magic and hidden by the clouds.
Built on... nothing. In The Eye logic has lost the most of its power.
This fortress is known as the Fortress of Change.
All since Prospero, home world of the Thousand Sons, was destroyed by the Space Wolves, the Thousand Sons have been scattered among planets, not only in the The Eye but also outside the warp storm.
Some of them have sought shelter here in the Fortress of Change where they have lived since the fall of their home world.
The life in the fortress has not been so peaceful however. The Thousand Sons of the Fortress of Change have been in almost constant war with the plague marines of the rival chaos god Nurgle. The Plaugefather Nurgle, lord of decay, is the worst enemy of the chaos god Tzeentch as Nurgle's desire is to break down and decay everything that Tzeentch seeks to rebuild and reshape.
Powerful assaults have been launched by the plague marines against the Fortress of Change. But the Thousand Sons have also lead assaults upon the plague marines' strongholds. As the daemon gods wage wars against each other, so do most their worshipers. To judge the anger from the two gods you can only imagine what battles that are fought in The Warp. These ages of war in the warp storm have caused great casualties to the Thousand Sons. And as Father Nurgle isn't the only rival to Tzeentch the followers of Khorne – blood god of chaos – have not stood by peacefully either.
Even if the sorcerors of Tzeentch are powerful they are few. Every death of a sorceror is a great loss and unfortunately the Thousand Sons of the Fortress of Change are not as strong as they once were. Furthermore, they have no contact with the Thousand Sons outside of the fortress. The latest century the war has become a fight for survival for the Thousand Sons. And if it continues as it is the Fortress of Change will be their grave.
Lord Tzaharius is one of the oldest sorcerors in the fortress. Back on Prospero he was taught about psychic powers, magic and forbidden knowledge by the librarians of the Thousand Sons. During the Space Wolves invasion he saw, from the window of a departing ship, the planet being bombarded to dust.
He is also one of the sorcerors who took part in the rubric of Ahriman.
However, through the ages he has been in the fortress, Tzaharius has grown in power. With increased knowledge and gained experience he is now the most powerful sorceror in the fortress.
There is hope for the Thousand Sons however, as Lord Tzaharius has learnt that during the fall of Prospero, Magnus the Red did not only manage to save hundreds of sons from their doom but also many powerful artifacts of Tzeentch and other valuable items containing powerful psychic energies. Unfortunately, they are now lost and most likely scattered all over the galaxy. These artifacts can be used for much more than just weapons. They could, for example, hold knowledge that has long been lost to the Thousand Sons. Even the ancient archives of the Eldars could hold valuable knowledge that can be put to use, one way or another.
Lord Tzaharius decided to leave the fortress and go on a journey to search for these artifacts. With him he took a handful of Thousand Sons, few enough to not wound the defenses of the fortress. The aspiring sorceror Armand, a loyal battle brother and closest to what any Chaos Space Marine would call "a friend" decided to accompany Lord Tzaharius on his mission. Together with a small force they left the fortress and The Eye behind them.
Here on the outside of the storm things were different than to what it had been inside the warp storm. Time existed as a normal constant thing and the sorcerors could no longer hear daemonic voices in their heads.
A few days after departure they arrived on a planet that seemed to be abandoned. But once they had landed on the planet's surface it didn't take long before they came in contact with an abandoned Black Legion army. Their chaos lord had risen to the rank of a daemon prince and now lived in the Warp; as such he did no longer care about his mortal army. Since the Black Legion had no option with which to leave the planet they had been trapped there since their lord left them. Because of this the army had split down into smaller groups and had spread out all over the planet.
Tzaharius spent twenty years to reunite the Black Legion. After that he spent another fiftyfive long years to rebuild the army to its former glory. Inspired with icons of Tzeentch they had taken their first step to immortality. The Black Legion seemed to be pleased with their new leader, as was Tzaharius with his new army under his command. Tzaharius loaded the troops on to his ship, The Revenge of Prospero, and the warriors of the Black Legion were relieved to finally leave that hell hole of a planet.
Now that Tzaharius had the gifts from the god Tzeentch, his mighty psychic powers and a whole army under his command; Tzaharius was stronger than ever and he would allow nothing to stand in the way in his
