"Great job getting Y/N to go out with you. And now that I've won the bet Gally has to do the dishes for a month." Minho smirked.

"Yeah," I mumbled quietly, still lost in the thoughts swirling through my head.

"What's wrong slinthead? You got the girl of your dreams to go out on a date with you this evening."

"I just think she said yes to be polite. Because again, she could go out with any guy here. Most of which are better than me. And the way she looks at you Minho, she loves you with all her heart."

"Newt. I've seen the way she stares at you and I know that she feels strongly about you and meant it when she said yes. She loves me more like a brother and it's nothing compared to the way she loves you, and it never will be. Now get ready for your date shank, you don't want to be late." He got up and ran toward the map room.

"Yeah, thanks."

---------------YOUR-P.O.V---------------

I was giggling with excitement as I got ready for our date in the trees. I couldn't wait ever since I heard him ask the question, but my stomach was filled with butterflies since this was my first date. At least that I could remember.

I truly liked Newt since my eyes found his as he spotted me, just a terrified girl sitting in the treetops glaring at him. I couldn't believe that it had been less than a  month and I was finally going out with him.

After trying on 15 different outfits my hammock area looked like a war zone. I eventually settled with a light green top, black ripped jeans and brown combat boots with my hair down as normal since I couldn't figure out what to do with it.

Minho walked toward me smirking as I was lacing up my boots and he dramatically gasped at the sight since it looked like a tornado had gone through my stuff.

"Wow Y/N. What a mess," he said, leaning on the wall.

"Yeah. But I'm still cleaner than you."

"Really? I don't think my hammock gets this bad."

"Well, at least I shower every day. And I haven't seen you once." I retorted as he stumbled as if he had been hit.

"Well excuse me if I don't make sure you're watching every time I head over to the showers." He laughed as he helped me clean up the mess that I considered my clothes.

"Alright, I'm going to go shower. So good luck on your date, Newt seemed somewhat prepared." He ran off to "shower" apparently. Even though he probably went to go hang out with someone else.

I checked the time on the watch I had earned through hours of begging Alby and Minho and realized that I still had about 15 minutes before Newt said he wanted to meet me in the treetops, where we first met.

I stopped by the medjacks to see if Sam needed any help since I had a few minutes to burn before the date. Turns out he refused to give me any work because he thought it would take too long and make me late for my date. So I decided I would get there early and surprise Newt.

---------------30-MINUTES-LATER---------------

I had absolutely no idea where Newt was. I hadn't seen a trace of him since he asked me out. I got bored and started picking flowers and using vines to weave them into a crown.

After I was done I looked at my excuse for a crown and couldn't stop myself from laughing at how much of a fail it was. Even though it looked like a bird's nest I still put it on because it made me feel like a princess.

I turned around to hear to sound of footsteps coming from the edge of the woods.

"Y/N I'm so sorry I'm late." I heard from a familiar blonde boy.

"It's fine Newt, I don't mind," I said as I adjusted the crown on my head and turned to face him.

"It was that shuck face Frypan's fault, I spent almost an hour arguing with him, trying to get him to let me take some food to bring for our picnic." He said as he started setting up a blanket on the forest floor.

"Yeah, he can be a real shank sometimes. But it's okay, I kept myself busy." I motioned to the mess of flowers and vines in a cluster resting on my head.

"Oh. Umm... wow. It's..." He stuttered as he struggled to find a good description of the thing that laid on my head.

"I know. It looks awful. I'm horrible at that kind of thing." I shrugged taking off the mess of vines and tossing it somewhere into the forest.

"I don't think I could have lied about that to save my life." He laughed as we sat down and dug into the basket that held all the food.

The rest of the evening was amazing and the thoughts of him still swirled around in my head as he walked me back to my hammock where I soon fell asleep a smile on my face.

A/N: Sorry I haven't updated in a few days I just couldn't think of how to start this chapter. Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoy.

P.S: There will be a sequel to this book (since this one will be ending in like 5 or 6 chapters) where Y/N and Newt fight their way through the scorch against all odds but will love survive the harsh and cruel conditions of the flare infected world.
