Chapter 1

Chapter 1:

Hadley's POV

Today is Dad's 50th birthday party. Alpha's from all over the United States are here to celebrate his birthday. As a result, my mom is freaking out.

'Your mate could be coming you need to look good'

So here I am. Looking at myself in the mirror at the green monstrosity my mother calls a dress.

I don't know what would look worse. Having food stuck in our teeth? Or wearing this dress? My wolf Alva complained.

Throughout this whole week, my wolf has been horribly anxious and jittery and I have no idea why.

I mean not even going for a run helps! And you could ask any wolf. Going for a run always helps. Except now.

I hear a knock on my door as my mom walks into my room.

"Do you just look...I mean you look...who the hell am I kidding? That dress looks like you got swallowed up by the Loch Ness monster" my mother exclaimed. I mean who could blame her. My dress was hideous.

"Thanks mom. I wonder who has such bad taste as to buy this thing?" I questioned, knowing good and well it was her who has bought it.

"Ha ha. Who knew my daughter was such a comedian?," my mother sassed, "let's get you something else to wear." She walked over to my closet and picked out the pink dress I was planning on wearing in the first place. "How about this one?" I glared at her.

"What happened to 'oh no! That wouldn't be appropriate to wear in front of unmated males'?" I asked sassily.

"Oh be quiet. There isn't much time for you to get ready" she said as she walked out the door.

I began to curl my long blonde hair and pin back a few strands with bobby pins. After a little mascara and lipgloss, I was ready to go.

As I walked down the stairs, I could hear the music thumping, telling me the party was in full swing already.

I walked out to my backyard to see my fellow pack members and members from other packs all dancing and having fun.

'Treat them no different then you would the rest of the pack,' my father had warned us. I spotted my two twin older brothers on the dance floor, dancing with random girls from another pack. My eldest brother was talking with other Alpha's. As soon as his mate shows up, he'll be able to take over Alpha duties from my father. There's no doubt in my mind that he'll be an amazing Alpha.

However, as soon as I went out to the party, my wolf became even more anxious.

And that's when it hit me. The most mouthwatering smell ever to exist. It smelled like freshly baked cookies straight out of the oven.

I twirled around trying to find the source of this delicious smell, when unlocked eyes with the most handsome wolf I ever saw. Standing over 6'7", with the most piercing green eyes, black shaggy hair, and a jaw line that could cut a diamond.

Mate. I heard my wolf purr.

Oh my god.

Who knew anyone could be so masculine and sexy?

He stalked his way over to me, and as he got closer I finally recognized him.

Alpha Maddox.
