"You guys are idiots! We literally missed two back there because you didn't check your damn blades! Now we are out of gas, and we are down to one fucking blade!"
"Are there any suppliers around? " I chime in.
"According to the notes and academics— no, there are none around. Although maybe about hundred fifty-four meters north there's a supply base." Dirk said.
"Either A we have to run there as fast as possible, B we can use our hooks and try traveling that way." I say. Suddenly remembering that it could potentially damage our hooks and our ODM gear. Before they protest I intervene, "I know it is bad for your hooks but if we were think in a real life situation where actual titans were swarming us we would be dead by now. So, I think using them would be good. On top of that running a distance like that could be dreadful! So I think using what we can could help."
"The cadets got a point," Carl says.
"Fine." Erin huffs. We then jumped off the tree and tried to break our fall with the hooks. Without gas it was hard to control and I watched as many of the soldiers around us taking down the dummies. I listened to the blast of the wires and the use of the gas echo through the forest. The small forest creatures making their noses hiding in fear from the humans who has taken it over. Finally I was to absorbed in my surroundings that I didn't hear my group yelling my name. I was pushed out of the way loosing my balance and falling. Quickly I snapped back into reality trying to shoot my anchors my mind was slow to completely comprehend the situation while I was plugging down to the earth. I could hear my squad try to catch me but we had no gas so they weren't fast enough to catch my falling body. Quickly embracing myself for the impact I tried to pull in my limbs thinking, maybe if I have everything close I'll reduce the risk of having greater injuries.
I never expected it. But I never collided with the group. Instead I was stopped abruptly, and started propelling forward. Suddenly I was placed on a tree slowing myself to regain thoughts. My adrenaline slowed. I didn't know who my mysterious hero was. Shaking the blurred vision away I look around. Right there was the supply base. I quickly stand up almost forgetting about my squad and my hero. My arm was grabbed. I turned around locking eyes with icy cold ones.
"Jeez way to show no appreciation." The person says bitterly with sarcasm written all over. I process who it is. I whip around and almost fall to my knees.
"Oh dear god! I'm so sorry, Sir! I was just in shock! I'm so great full you saved me because I would've been dead or severely injured! Thank you so much!" I express. He reply's with a click of his tongue nodding his head. Everyone jumps down, again trying to break their fall running to the base.
"Hold on." Levi grabbed my wrist. I turned once more, his eye stared deeply into my own, his eyebrows were knit together.
"Do you dare attempt another stupid ass move like that, ever! How many time do you plan to get yourself killed? Didn't I tell you to not act so God damn careless! Listen so fuck's sake!" I nod quickly shaking from the adrenaline that had suddenly burst through my veins.
"Before we go, may I ask why are you here?" I pull my wrist away from his grasp and hold it close to my chest. His eyes flickered there for a moment only to look back into mine.
"As a Lieutenant, and a squad leader I must see who is compatible for my squad." Levi calmly states bringing to the supply base. I replenish my items quickly. Seething the spare blades. Before I leave. Levi speaks up.
"I know you have potential, (y/n). Your a fighter with all the hardships you've endured. You can do it." He encouraged me. Those words sunk into my core causing me to remember everything that has happened I the past couple of years. I let out a sigh feeling a slight lump form in my throat. I mumble out a thank you to Levi avoiding eye contact because I let a few tears. Levi didn't keep me any longer. "Now get going." He ordered.
I shoot my hooks to catch up with my squad finding them arguing once again. I stand on the tree and shout loudly. "You guys! We can't go one way, or the other. We stick together! Dumbasses we watch each other's back! Now stop your arguing and get yourselves together because if this were a real situation we'd all probably be dead! Think! You guys are grown ass adults, use that brain of yours and come up with an idea! Oh wait—I have one. Do you see that group of dummies? Why don't we each take one because they are near each other. Actually if you really look there's a lot that are near! So let's get going and if someone needs help help them!" I jump off the tree propelling myself forward quickly. It all appeared in slow motion I was moving quickly elegantly and moving with agility. The rest of them followed pursuit going after titans and if someone needed help because a blade situation or the couldn't cut the leather necks someone would. Time flew fast as we seamlessly worked together. Finally Sadies called all of us in.
"It's time to announce the winners of today's training session!" He boldly said. Everyone gather around standing patiently as more came to join.
"It appears that (Y/n)'s group wins! No cleaning duty tomorrow! Get going you scum!" My group cheered in unison.
"Wow! We actually did it!" Carl said in disbelief.
"Yeah I know! We worked so well!" Dirk chimed in.
"Now hold on! Let's be real if it wasn't for (Y/n) not getting our asses to get we wouldn't be here!" Chuck smiled. He gave me a pat on my head ruffling my hair in the process. I grunt in response.
"Thank you!" I say, "but if you guys didn't listen we'd all me be dead meat!" Say laughing. Other came by to congratulate us and complement each other's work. I got a few complaints myself, later striking a conversation about how well I maneuver. I felt happiness for the first time in a while. I felt as if joining the Scouts wasn't bad. It wasn't, at all. It was like they were all a big happy family and soon I'd join it.
Sneaking away from all the commotion I go to the stables. I find my dapple, (H/n). "(H/n), sweetie. Hello? I'm here." I hear the clip of his hoof beat touch the ground as he turns and give a loud whinny, "I know I'm sorry for not giving you a long bath. But I brought you a treat!" I showed him an apple and fed it to him. He munched on it chewing the sugary goodness in his mouth.
"Good night, boy" I say locking this stable and walking to my barrack. The minute I enter I head for my dresser. I take a night gown. It was sort of short, elegant and flowed gracefully. It was made out of a light weight silk like frantic. And had lace at the end. Taking my hair out of its tangled mess I brushed it out and took the journal. I read a couple of Kasandra's training entries when she was in the Scouts.
"Today. We started hand to hand combat. It was funny to watch this tall man be taken down a small one. He was strangely short and he always had a face full of anger. I don't think he meant to be angry but he sure seemed that way. He had two friends that would informally cheer him on as he casually disobeyed the rules with his friends. He was intriguing. We also had a small race with our Maneuvering Gears and he was quick swift, and skilled along with his friends. I don't know what else to say about him. I know though there's an expedition quickly approaching and I thought it cruel to have them join the expedition with so little knowledge and skill about these giant beings. Although it wasn't my orders or my rules. It was another's problem."
